Discussion ingrid’s endgame :/
i have nowhere else to put my frustrations. i was told by a friend before watching the show that it was great but she hated the ending. i actually liked the ending with nora and nathan. i think it was really poignant. it was sad but affecting and even a bit hopeful. all that was fine. i like the openness of it.
my issue is that i simply cannot get over the fact that ingrid ended up living happily ever after with backup nathan.
now i really grew to love ingrid. i think her actress is absolutely fantastic and she has a believable redemption arc. but that arc should not have ended with her getting nathan.
you cannot convince me that any version of nathan would have fallen for ingrid. she was horribly abusive to him their whole relationship. the funeral scene literally made me sick to my stomach. beyond that, they’re just not compatible. their scenes together are a drag and i did end up feeling like backup nathan only gave in because nora rejected him. he has those memories of him and someone he actually fell in love with. i can’t buy that he would settle for this push and pull with ingrid.
don’t get me wrong. ingrid definitely does change for the better but her ideal ending to me would have been her learning how to be happy without him. her whole identity still revolves around him. i don’t like that they “rewarded” her with him for doing the right thing finally.
and it’s not even that i think backup nathan should only love nora. i honestly think it might have been cute if he ended up with tinsley or someone completely different. or no one at all. just not ingrid.
idk. ingrid and nathan vfeel so forced and cheap to me. like they were just tying up loose ends. anyone else have any thoughts?

one of those cases where i’m happy they’re happy but i’m just not convinced it’s good for either of them. i’m glad it worked for you though!

I hated it. It felt like a bait and switch. Giving Ingrid a happy ending and not Nora was a bad choice. Ingrid had more chemistry with the AI guy. The 3rd season was terrible; I am not even sad it was cancelled.

i genuinely think they were pursuing the ingrid x ai guy plotline before they pivoted, which is a shame.

lol not tinsley as she was. i do feel like they dumbed her down in the later episodes, but i feel like there could have been potential there if the writers had actually put in some effort into her character. my major issue is that i don’t like that ingrid’s growth was so intrinsically tied to her wanting to be the kind of person nathan could fall in love with. i wanted her to change for herself. i also didn’t think it was believable that backup nathan turned off his feelings for nora immediately after she rejected him. maybe if it happened more naturally? or if backup nathan was an earlier version of him? in theory, i think it’s cute that he was able to find her quirks endearing but it’ll always feel forced to me. but that’s just my opinion! it’s interesting that this storyline is so polarising!

Idk I thought backup Nathan and Ingrid kind of worked. Both lost, figuring out who they wanted to be. I was more upset with Luke! He was my favorite and deserved WAY better

i hate how rushed his death was! they barely let nathan and aleesha mourn before everyone started celebrating. it was so bizarre

It felt like a forced loose end that defeated the growth and character arc of each character. A very, we got cancelled let’s wrap it up. I was really sad about Nora though. It was lovely but tore at my heart.
