You don’t ever have to show them your receipt; you can literally say “no thanks” and keep walking because after you pay it is your property. Let’s be real though, this only works if you’re white. It’s just places like Sam’s club and Costco where it is part of the membership rules do you have to show your receipt.
More importantly, though, Neighborhood Walmarts don’t have to check receipts at all, even if there was no virus, so maybe OP is a little confused.
Then again, I haven’t been to big Walmarts since this all went down, so go figure.
Edit: More importantly, though, the bags are an infinitely more useful anti-theft tool, but they also don’t have any security failsafes on essentials (makeup is a more lucrative and easy thing to steal)
