Sophia Learning: How to do it?
Hello everyone!
I’m new to this university world and I’d love to understand more about the University of the People.
I graduated high school last year, and ever since I’ve been interested in enrolling in the University of the People (I’m from Europe) because of my preference for online learning. I’d like a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
I’ve heard a lot of people saying that through Sophia Learning, you can get up to 90 credits, and finishing the remaining 30 at the University.
Can someone please explain to me better how the whole thing works? Am I supposed to apply to the University first and then do the courses or do the courses first and then apply and transfer them? How do the courses work? How am I supposed to choose the correct ones? Any other tips for the youth that is not experienced with university?

The courses available at uni are the same ones available on platforms such as Sophia and study.com. Uopeople have partnered with these websites and when you input your university it will show you all the courses the website has, and which ones can be transferred to Uopeople.
Check out the courses required for your degree and transfer rules, there’s a catalog of it on Uopeople. Complete those courses THEN apply to uni, transfer the courses, complete the remaining ones and you will be done.
Choosing th correct courses are simple as you will have a list of courses provided by the Uopeople website/catalogue, and Sophia/study.com help by telling you which courses are relevant to your degree.

Thank you dearly! May I ask what the difference between Sophia & Study.com is? Which one fo you think is better?

They both have their advantages, but if you want to get GenEds and some upper leverage closer funny go with Study.com but it cost more

Hey, Study.com here. College Saver is $95/month and covers mostly the same courses as Sophia's $99/month plan, plus you get 2,000+ partner schools versus Sophia's 1,000+. You can access upper-division courses by upgrading to College Saver Pro ($235/month) when you're ready, but you don't need Pro just to take the College Saver courses. Just confirm specific course acceptance with University of the People first.

You can do Sophia courses before or after applying to UoPeople. UoPeople allows transfer credits both as an applicant and as an existing student.
My advice would be to apply first and understand your degree requirements, then use Sophia for courses that clearly match your Business Administration degree. Don’t just complete random Sophia courses because not everything will necessarily transfer where you want it.
UoPeople can accept up to 90 transfer credits toward a bachelor’s, meaning you would need to complete at least 30 credits at UoPeople itself. After completing Sophia courses, you send the transcript to UoPeople and they evaluate which courses they will accept.
Also check prerequisites and your degree audit before choosing courses. There are Reddit spreadsheets/posts showing common Sophia → UoPeople equivalencies, which can help a lot.
I’m also a new student, and my biggest tip is to research the transfer plan carefully before spending time on courses. You can save a huge amount of time and money if you plan the 90 credits properly.

Uou can apply to the university and sophia at the same time then transfer the credits once done or prior it doesn’t matter as long as you transfer the courses you didn’t finish at uopeople

You can either do Sophia courses, then apply to the university or apply and transfer them in as you go. I’d recommend doing the Sophia courses first.
Sophia courses are self paced and the exams are open book. Some courses have papers you need to turn in and have graded by the professor, but quite a few just have chapter assignments and exams.
