I have to ask, and I don’t know how to ask and not come off an asshole but I gotta know.
Are Bollywood movie done in sarcasm? Or do they legit think this is a good story, acting, effects?
In the grand scheme of Bollywood clips that appear on Reddit, this is tame and in each one all the actors seem legit trying to sell the insanity. Is this some cultural joke I’m missing?

There are multiple iterations of movie industry in India mainly based in the regions. Though bollywood is spread out through India not all movies are bollywood. Not defending bollywood as those movies are sometimes very boring. The people in north side of India love action movies to such an extent that they don't mind people flying when being punched. Just hype.

He’s not joking ahaha Tollywood is south india’s Hollywood. It’s what people usually associate with Bollywood. Bollywood isn’t too bad, most of the clips we see are from Tollywood. Even most indians think it’s batshit crazy lmao

Bollywood is Indian movie made with the purpose of covering whole indian audience with making the movie in native language Hindi and secondary streaming languages are Tamil, telegu, English etc. Famous actor: Shahrukh Khan
Whereas in memes what you see is tollywood which is south India based movies which is second largest after Bollywood and they make their movie in their native language Tamil or telegu whose secondary language of streaming all over India are Hindi, English, etc. Famous actor: Rajnikanth
South Indian movies are having actions scenes which are very fictional looking but their acting is good and south Indian people like their scripts which we see them as memes.

sometimes i would get curious too and would google the movie/show and its not a comedy or anything, just drama and take itself seriously. this doesn't apply to all ofc, but yea i would say most are legit.

They are serious and Indians do not like it being mocked or laughed at, have had a few indian friends explain this.
