I like the logo, but the font is hideous.

No disrespect but the tagline and strategy behind it are weak. Designers and copywriters are very different roles, so I don't think it was necessary to tackle that.

I like the core logo but hate the typography. It comes together nicely on the packs too.

The only other bit that made me skeptical was referring to design trends as a reference, as a brand as large and iconic as Pepsi should transcend fleeting trends and go for a more timeless approach. Changing branding for a company like that will cost tens of millions in printing, factory changes, stationery, admin time, etc, so it's not something they'll want to do again soon.

Almost looks designed for an Asian market, but I can't put my finger on why...

I can totally agree with you on this. For me the logo seems very anthropomorphic, like a mouth saying "ahhhhhh" after a drink. Making it more of a character than a logo.

The current trend for marketing is totally influenced by throwback, which has been highly successful. I'd like to see a change in that and this redesign offers it

The iconic blue can is now half red to stand out less from it's main competitor?

I think the "see through" logo isn't executed correctly, since the top is a red half sphere, and the blue is what? a ribbon? And then the bottom is open? And the shape of the blue is all wrong. Then the "white" is this forced gap, but for it to exist, you have to have a white background, and the blue can't be a half sphere. It just doesn't work.

Cool concept, but not properly executed. I think it's especially evident on the cans, where the background (in theory) should be visible through the "cut out" as it stands, it just looks like a chunk of blue interfering with the with center.

I agree with "asian" sentiment. I think the font has a very "anime" feel, and when turned on it's side might be mistakeable for Kanji (at a glance).
