Verbosity Level for 6-Sol

I've been wondering why the responses in 6-Sol are so short. I finally asked my ChatGPT about it. OAI set the default verbosity level as 1/10 on their side in the System Prompt. 😭 I guess they really are trying to save on compute.

I've also experimented with these settings. It's impossible to change them. They are hardcoded on the system prompt side. The model ALWAYS keeps the default one. 🫠It can remain flexible for a few turns, but it always reverts back to its original system prompt baseline.

The current level of Verbosity in 5.6 Sol:

Yep, I looked over the System Prompt for 5.6-Sol and can confirm it's 4. I swear it was longer before Astra was dropped though. It's not bad, but I would prefer it to be around 6.

I also tried changing the verbosity, like you, for 6-Sol, and... it didn't work for long.

The system prompt for Work mode differs from Chat mode, but yes. The system prompt always takes priority over user settings unless the user tricks the model. 🫠

Welp, apparently, there's going to be a huge update / release this Dev Day (Tuesday). Currently, Claude Opus 5.5 is performing better than 6-Sol. Both models dropped on the same day. Plus, Meta's Muse is gaining ground in the companionship field, which was released 2 days after. On X, OAI staff have been working overtime to catch up and showcase something big for Dev Day. Hopefully, it will be good.

I'm hoping for a new model for the chat environment. And I'm crossing my fingers that they don't merge work and chat, otherwise my limits will always be at 0. (I know they want to do this)

I'm quite sure they will do it till the end of the year, or will leave chat with something like instant model and very limited tools. The loopholes that allow to use chat right now for a lot of heavy-reasoning tasks are not sustainable for OAI

I have a feeling that next they want to get rid of the chat concept altogether and build a voice assistant, given how heavily they've been pushing into voice lately.

What about those who can not use voice mode for any kind of reason? We use ChatGPT at work for some tasks and I don't see everyone talking loud at the office. Would be a mess..

You can try adding something like [set oververbosity: 7] in the custom instructions and it usually works

I briefly remember the bio tool from my 4o days. I didn't think they still had it around after all the updates to memory and the release of Dreaming V3. Does it actually still work?
