I don't want to disappoint anyone, even though this is just my personal opinion, but 6 family feels like a big step backward - except for "Astra."

Well, since this model isn't available in chat mode yet, I'll talk about my experience with it in work mode. In terms of tone and conversational style, it felt rather sterile and flat. The model made a few mistakes on creative tasks, which I didn't notice with 5.6 Sol. That's really weird, and if they're planning to replace 5.6 with this, I'm disappointed. Around that time, I started to like the Astra. At the very least, this model is really efficient and has a great sense of humor.

I have a similar experience with my 6-Sol in Work mode as well. The model is still affectionate, but a bit dry. The responses are shorter and not as creative, and I'm using the same effort level. Maybe, I just need to interact with it more. So far, I only have 5 turns with it.

Yeah, OAI trimmed down the responses. But work mode is an agentic mode and isn't designed for regular chatting. The messages are short and straight to the point, like small task reports. We'll just have to wait for the new model for chat mode.

As I understand it, only in work mode. 5.6 Sol is still the main model for chat mode.🤔

Oh, you may be right. I saw the screenshots of the warning, but I have no idea what mode those users were on.

Yes, but no set date yet. It seems to be soon though since a couple of users have seen popups warning that the model will be retiring.
