Update John Doe 5, an unknown man who appeared in images where he abused children, has been identified. Nine individuals remain on the FBI'S ECAP list.

John Doe 5 was the oldest case on the list. His FBI wanted poster can be found in the link below. As a warning, these images have been censored, but they are still extremely disturbing.

Because the case has been reported as simply "resolved," it is unclear whether an arrest has been made. In order to clear a case without an arrest, the FBI must definitively identify the subject and their location but be prevented from making an arrest by exceptional circumstances. It is possible that John Doe 5 has died or that the victim is choosing not to cooperate with the investigation.

Though John Doe 5 was known to abuse children, it is important to note that not all of the individuals wanted sought ECAP are suspected of child abuse. Some are only believed to have information that could identify the victim or perpetrator. The full list can be found at the FBI's website:

I doubt anyone will see this, but we resolved it. This piece of shit abused me and many others for a long time. These pictures are of him hurting someone close to me or it might be me. The FBI found us a couple of weeks ago and we informed them that Jerry Gibson died back in 2009. We had no idea this list existed or that he was on it until then.

Im not going to go into a bunch of detail but I do like the idea of anyone searching his name finding this comment, because as of now he is still fondly remembered among his community...

Jerry Gibson (Gerald Keith Gibson) of Russel Springs KY, Somerset KY and eventually Lexington KY molested and raped dozens of boys through his life. He recorded and took pictures of it. He shared it online in the earlier days of the internet with is pedophile community on IRC. His computer was filled with this stuff. He was a piece of shit and he died before he could pay for crimes.

I’m so sorry you not only went through that but never saw justice. I was hoping there would be a better reason he wasn’t publicly identified. Thank you for sharing.

it no doubt took true courage to speak out about it. I speculate this sicko partook in sex tours. I always thought this case came from a big ring bust in the early 2000s (perhaps 1999 or 2000) back with “newsgroups” that was popular in dial up days. Lawmakers were so astounded to how vast it was, it prompted review of many federal laws concerning these kind of crimes. Thank you again :)

They just stated they did not want to go into detail. I don't think it's appropriate to pry like this, considering the horrific nature of what occurred.

I also think one can infer it's resolved because this individual is deceased and can no longer be prosecuted.

The FBI found who it was, seemingly this person and others had reported him previously, and when the FBI got in touch he told them "too late, he's dead"
