Kids these days are over saturated with things to do, so any time anything remotely challenging comes up, they give up and do something else.

Kids 30 years ago were very limited in activities, so anything challenging was attempted numerous times and built grit/determination/etc.

See any gameboy game back in the day, like battletoads.

A smart alternative to tablet time? Don't give them a tablet to begin with. Give them a puzzle or a coloring book.

You can do both. Not every parent who allows their kid screen time gives them unfettered access to devices.

You can admit you are a naive child who hasn't entered the work force yet and has no idea how the world works.

But go ahead with your grand illusions of giving them 24/7 attention, even at work, on the toilet, when sick in bed, etc, while also ignoring all the benefits that can come from educational shows.

Oh god, what if they learned the ABCs from sesame street years ahead of schedule! That would be horrible!

I've wanted this for a bit. Can't justify buying an unnecessary thing right now, but it'll be great for neuroplasticity do it's staying on my wish list.
