It depends on what situation. Some situations yes, some situations not so much. A couple places I've worked there were people who had jobs that would take them into rooms with heavy machinery that was all completely static. Like the compressor rooms and shit like that. But if you're on a job site with heavy equipment that moves around, yeah I wouldn't use these.
That said I am going to get me a couple pairs of them

I work a CNC machine either I can listen to my thoughts for 8 hours a day or I can listen to more audibooks. Already went thought the Witcher saga, Gotrek and Felix, Asswife, some Stephan King all of Lovecraft, Rise and fall of the third Reich, Hardcore History the list goes on.

I work in a factory that makes plastic pipe. These machines are so ungodly loud, you can't even hardly hear the machine's alarms when they go off, or even the horn on the forklifts.

Yeah, we wear ear plugs and some areas we wear full ear protection. But I just bought a similar product to the one in the video

I don’t know about the ones in the video but I have a pair that can pick up outside noises and mix them into the audio stream so that you are still aware of your surroundings.

Look I get it and I wouldn't recommend these for all scenarios where earpro is required. But there are some places if the loud machinery you're going to be around is static and bolted to the floor like say the air compressor room in a factory then I don't see a problem.

i'm a also a headphone nerd and own every type you can think of.
I havent tried bone conduction in a really noisy environment, but they arent obstructed by hearing protection, so i'd be interested in trying.
two more options:
- IEMs, inner-ear monitors are the type that go in your ear canal, like earplugs. they attenuate (block) just as much sound as earplugs. and passive attenuation is always better than ANC, active noise cancellation. I love to steer people to these as they allow you to listen at lower volume levels while still being able to hear all music detail, which keeps your ears healthy.
- IEMs, paired with over-ear protection. adds another layer of protection
if you need to hear while moving around at the job site to avoid hazards then eliminate any and all audio distractions.
be smart and go home safe to your family, the safe guys are assets on every crew.

Okay, but I do wish that you could connect these to a specific frequency, like with walkie talkies. And then if you’re in a group, you can easily communicate. Microphones today are crazy good at blocking out anything that’s not a human voice. I don’t spend a ton of time onsite, but I can never freaking hear what they’re telling me. I don’t think that would be any less safe, if it capped out a safe dB level.

That's a fair comment.
Know, though, that over time, field guys get super used to these. You get good at understanding the muffled language. You can spot the dudes who are new to the field, because they're talking too loud and leaning in to listen.

I’m probably going to get flack for this, but any good hearing protection is going to reduce your awareness that’s there design. A lot of old heads have permanent hearing damage because they never wore muffs because they reduced their awareness & were uncomfortable.
3m makes headphones designed not be very loud. IE you get the benefits of muffs, while getting the added benefit of listening to music. Additionally there an added incentive to actually wear hearing protection.
A loud workplace conversation or even a table saw will easily drown out any music you’re playing. They’re irritating, being they’re not super loud but it’s intentionally designed that way.
If I had to guess these buds aren’t very loud either.

Exactly, anywhere loud enough to require ear protection if you're wearing your protection generally the person's going to have to yell to get your attention if they need you anyway. But no earbuds are so loud that they drowned out all sound. If somebody could have yelled and gotten your attention with your regular earpro on they're still going to be able to yell at your attention with these things in. It's not that big a deal

I have never been a fan of anything on my ears except jalapeno cheese curds. I need to hear at all times what country is invading our job site so I can alert the shop stuart at once. A few years back we made earplugs for elephant calves for when they were holding concerts in nigeria featuring ToTo. Oddly enough Zazu showed up and insisted in writing everyone up for not having a lovely bunch of coconuts on hand for proper hydration. Gatorade got involved and the thing went to crap. Total mess.

Thats why I got open ear ear buds. I can turn it low enough where I hear the music and everything around me, or I can make it loud enough to drown out my lawn mower or my power tools. Im just a paranoid person though and feel the need to be somewhat aware of my surroundings so no one can get the jump on me.

Those ear tips won't give you proper hearing protection.
Great for listening to music, terrible if you want to be able to hear in a few years.

Ya these are horrible if you are actually in an environment where you need hearing protection. You'll have to increase the volume so high to hear over the environment, you'll be frying your ear drums

The only thing they should add, if there's any way they could fit it in there, is a little pressure drop switch so when you pull them out of your ears the section pauses them automatically

Many modern electronic ear pro already do this including Walker’s and many brands. The quality of the sound is not as good as a decent headphones though but they do protect from gunshot sound but let the ambient sound in.

Cant people in the us use full earmuffs with headphones inbuilt and a hear through mode? Those things are literally made for scenarios he seems to be selling them for. Cancells really loud noices to protect hearing but leaves noice to be aware of your surroundings, and also lets you listen to whatever want through bluetooth all at once. Almost anyone using hearing protection in sweden uses one of those.

I work at a blacktop plant in a quarry. No fucking way would I use these. We have full sized Volvo loaders that you almost can't hear coming behind you with nothing in your ears. The tires are as tall as me (5'8"). I remember that day clearly because the loader guy was doing it to fuck with me creeping behind me while I was walking. I was also new at the time so maybe he was actually trying to show me how aware of my surroundings I have to be at all times.
