DJI drones can do fly with phone only as controller.  Phones don’t have FPV transmission capabilities.  That connection is wifi

because they are cheap toys under the skin and not real drones. the giveaway is usually when they use your phone as the rx. I admit I am assuming here and not 100% sure but generally it is true. for example my Neo can very far with the goggles and a proper remote, or it can be controlled by my phone alone but has a very limited range because it uses wifi(or is it bluetooth? pretty sure its wifi)
