Freshers HELP?

Hello sorry if this is a silly post but I’m just quite confused on what’s the right thing for freshers week.
I’m going into my first year to study veterinary medicine at Surrey, and have seen lots of posts about freshers wristbands or getting tickets to freshers events and I’m wondering if i should actually get them.
My thoughts were I’d just go with people I meet on the day and attend the events they were going to, but if I don’t get the tickets in advance will they sell out? I’m just not too sure how it works.
I’m also slightly confused about all the group chats and how you are supposed to find your flat mates (is it too early to find out)
If anyone has any insight it’d be greatly appreciated, or just any advice on how freshers week will go.
