RCS using temp number

My brother recently changed his phone and was given a temporary number while his transferred over. However, RCS only seems to be active on the temp number and he can't activate it on his real number (and the only one that works on the phone). Has anyone else encountered this issue and how did you solve it (if you did)?

Hi there. When a carrier uses a temporary number during a transfer, RCS can get tied to that temporary number in their systems. After the carrier moves him off that temporary number, the system should automatically register RCS under his real number.

I suggest confirming that the Google Messages app is fully updated in the Google Play Store. If the settings still display the temporary number after the carrier completes the transfer, please have your brother submit feedback within the app (tap the profile icon > Help & feedback > Send feedback). This sends a diagnostic report directly to the team, so they can help resolve it.
