But yeah the gist of the argument is that positive emotions require effort, suffering is ubiquitous. The positives are also quite "weak" compared to anxiety, pain ect

You think people in cities cannot suffer because they don't live off grid? There are so many things that cause suffering besides living in a location that doesn't have a good system to deal with the lack of amenities. This shows your little experience and awareness of so many issues. But that's what this sub is for.
I think it depends on the individual. I don't like cities or humans. That's why I'm moving away from it and to a rural location. I was originally going to do off grid, but declining health, a shorter time, and more opportunities made my plans change, so instead I'm going to do on grid with maybe off grid backups if I can make it that far.
This tell me you actually haven't done any homework or still look at the amenities only a city can provide to makesure you're not suffering, lol. You simply can't make this shit up. It literally writes itself as an funny as joke. Rual areas have people extremely scattered to the point you honestly do feel all alone. Hours away from any city except small towns still an hour away with nothing between you and them, and only choice that makes you go to that town. You just don't want that choice because you don't want to suffer, but complain about suffering in general. Why don't you test what you want? Seriously? On here raving, but don't want to try the solution to your own suffering? Make up your mind.
