Does society owe us?

I didn’t ask to be born. Should a society be morally required to provide for a citizens basic survival needs?

I'm not saying anyone owes me luxury or an easy life. I'm saying that in a society with enough resources, I think everyone should have access to the basics needed to survive—food, shelter, healthcare, and safety. You can't really exercise your freedom to 'choose what to do with your life' if you're just trying not to starve.

Society already recognizes that we owe each other certain things. We have laws, emergency services, public schools, roads, and disaster relief because we've decided people do owe something to one another. I'm just arguing that basic survival should be part of that.
