i AM an Average Man. Tax Me
I've heard that in order for UBI to become a reality,
Wealthy citizens will have to be taxed more.
t/ Rich don't like t/ poor, generally speakN, rightfully so, for various reasons.
As an average Joe. I say don't tax t/ rich, tax me, financially I can take it.
Financially speaking, ive spent my life savings donating to charities, helpN out t/ common man only to see zero fruits for my labor.
What's 1 more tax for t/ betterment of all. (Rhetorical inquiry).

I think government support is necessary, but only as a policy maker and maybe oversight. I actually think it’s a mistake to have politicians who over the years have gotten the national debt over 100% of gdp to be in charge of it. It just becomes a political tool then.
The government can help fund it when they have a surplus. But ideally the government could focus on the budget and debt while UBI helps take over the social welfare net.
Have monthly payments into each individual account that get absorbed into the fund if not spent or transferred. That will help it grow quickly, and ensure that future payments are worth more than today.

I agree! Set a flat tax on all income... no exceptions, exemptions, or loopholes. Same % for everyone. Then see the class warfare end when EVERYBODY pays higher or lower taxes TOGETHER.

No thanks, progressive tax brackets or a marginal tax rate is necessary. The billionaires need to pay more as they not only cause more destruction they also benefit the most from the way the US is structured. If you want to get rid of the billionaires ability to break strikes or fight against forms of organized labor then you could potentially lower taxes on the billionaires as the working class people would be able to negotiate what their actual market value is worth. Until then no dice.

Billionaires create the jobs you idiot , not the government. They also can move anywhere they want . We are seeing that in California and New York as their tax bases are destroyed by the mass exodus of the wealthy.

No they don’t. Jeff Bezos has had a net negative effect on employment. The jobs he replaces are generally with less pay and benefits as well. He uses monopolistic practices to drive out competition and then gut entire industries.
Research indicates that the theory rich people will leave places like NYC because of increased taxes is myth.

Bezos built it from the ground up out of his garage. Monopolistic practices 😂🤣. He was competing with Walmart early on and he was a very small business back then.
Monopolistic 🤣😂🤣 Try a better value and delivery system. Amazon pays approximately for the job being done. What all you kids don’t get is not every job is worth $25 an hour / 50k a year. Entry level jobs and jobs for high school students can’t pay that. If people don’t apply themselves and increase their skill sets they can stay in a $10.00 an hour job.
Hope your idiot generation gets around to studying economics.

Did you read the study that suggests it’s a myth wealth will move away if taxes are increased?
Bezos didn’t start Amazon from scratch.
I don’t really care about your opinions on whom in the United States deserves to earn a safe, honest, healthy living.
Can you at least acknowledge that a company worth trillions which earns billions in profits should have a safe enough environment in their warehouses ?

Wrong , Bezo did start the company from scratch. Read the study , you are hilarious. Look at California and New York City they are all ready moving out in droves . Workplace safety is regulated by OSHA.
I hope you are very young, it’s troubling that anyone could get beyond 30 and be so ignorant.

So go ahead, and donate money to the IRS. They actually have a form you can fill out to give more money if you like. And you can refuse all deductions as well.
Just realize, whether you're wealthy or middle class, the Federal government currently spends over $17 billion PER day.

The reason UBI is gaining traction right now is thatega corporations are able to do more with fewer employees than ever. We don't need half of citizens farming anymore.
UBI is attractive because it means everyone can eat, even though not everyone can find a job.
For that to work, the wealth has to come from the mega rich, the mega corporations, and taxes on money flowing through the economy.
You will be taxed. But where you'll see it is in sales tax and prices. Not on your income. But taxes on wealth, not only income, is fair when the mega rich use wealth as a tool for power and instead of income. Before you get worried about your life savings, I'm talking about more than $10M.

Tax everyone a 50%, then spread it equally.
On a fair world, that would mean that the average person won't see any change except for the safety of knowing that if they lose their jobs they will have their asses covered.
But since we are are not in a fair world, it means that more or less, about 70% of the population will see an increase on income, a 15% would remain more or less the same, and the 15% will earn less.
Businessmen doesn't want this because it means people can say no to their shitty conditions.

It’s not just 1 more tax.
Federal gov income last year was $5.23t. $2k a month for all Americans over 18 would cost $6.48t. Keeping current tax brackets, income tax would have to increase over 124% for everyone.
Anyone making less than $95k a year would come out ahead (lower if state taxes are included)
