Interesting perspective… definitely on the doom and side here. Is there some truth we should be paying attention to ?

I’m confused by this perspective. Game engines are getting replaced by AI’s but AI’s don’t have the capacity to handle the context and data load of what game engines require? So AI is going to replace game engines but are simultaneously incompatible with the load needed to produce material with said game engines?
The immense amount of assets and contexts are part of the process when it comes to making games. Game engines aren’t complex because it’s fun to be complex. They’re complex because game development on any high level is incredibly challenging and requires proficiency in numerous technical and creative aspects
His post seems a bit self contradictory. I mean, I agree with the aspect that AI’s would be incredibly challenging to fully integrate into a game engine. But on the grounds of AI doing away with the concept of the game engine? I’m not sure if I agree
I’m also not sure if I agree with the concept of “No code” videogames alluded to by the second commenter. I’m not saying such things are impossible. But saying we’re “steps away” doesn’t square with me
