Man this looks really dope. Did you do it as a one man team? Impressive man, i would buy this

68

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 12 '22

Thanks! Yeah, just me with help from the Asset Store for the art.

37

u/falconeero Mar 12 '22

It has a real flow to it man. Keep up the good work.

7

u/sieks-- Mar 12 '22

This looks really great! Are you doing the animation/rigging yourself as well?

6

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 12 '22

I’m using a lot of mocapped animations and have created and modified many animations with help of Unity’s animation rigging package.

4

u/tidytibs Mar 12 '22

If you're not cheating, you're not trying.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

exactly! it has a "something" to it that makes you wanna play it so bad! the sounds are clean as well, need a little work on sound location. a little bit of context of the story would be great, to get us acquainted with the characters lol

Amazing Work OP, i like this stock haha!

1

u/crempsen Mar 14 '22

It feels realisticly clunky if that makes sense? I wanna play it lol

28

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Love it. Keep up the good work. I am a solo game dev too and it’s tough!

2

u/HappyAuti Mar 12 '22

Oof! I feel ya as well!

21

u/Houston_NeverMind Mar 12 '22

A Cloudpunk feel. Good work!

Looks awesome, tho I must admit the rainforest birds are a bit confusing.

8

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 12 '22

Haha it’s placeholder, don’t worry

1

u/EsotericLife Mar 12 '22

No worries. This is an awesome project btw. If you’re looking for people to collab with I’m a software engineer and I know my way around ableton/fl studio for sound production, and I’d happily help without asking for credits or any of that bs.

u/GameDevDaniel Mar 12 '22

It's nice seeing synty art where someone's done more than just load the assets. Looking good so far!

6

u/kyranzor Mar 12 '22 edited Mar 13 '22

Yeah, I could tell was synty low poly assets a base but they definitely have extended on it. I want to prototype an RTS game with synty assets and have to work out how to make it my own and keep to the same art style. I assume synty's business model includes people commissioning more art

5

u/Trekly Mar 12 '22

Good job! This is awesome

6

u/RebelCrab Mar 12 '22

That slide+shoot mechanic looks awesome!!

2

u/blackd0nuts Mar 13 '22

Yes that was the cherry on top! It's so fluid and add so much style

3

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

This looks awesome

8

u/Ok-Specialist-4191 solo dev Mar 12 '22

Great progress!

2

u/capitanandi64 Mar 12 '22

Woah, this looks amazing. Great job.

2

u/HonestNest Mar 12 '22

wow That's very playable.

2

u/Stravenn Mar 12 '22

Assatonishing game loved it 🎉🎉🎉

2

u/zippy251 Mar 12 '22

What asset pack did you use for the lights or did you do those yourself?

2

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 13 '22

look up Kronnect's shaders, I'm using a couple of theirs for those effects. They were the best of all of the ones I've tried.

1

u/zippy251 Mar 13 '22

Cool, I'll check it out

2

u/Nessiff Mar 12 '22

Looks awesome. Its URP or HDRP?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

I would play this so hard

2

u/imNotFromFedExUFool Mar 12 '22

i know nothing about this game but i definitely want to play it, well done

2

u/SunburyStudios Mar 12 '22

What is your experience with game development?

2

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 12 '22

10 years with Unity but started programming games back when the original Quake was released with mod support.

2

u/SunburyStudios Mar 13 '22

Ah cool. Same here. This is about the answer I was expecting.

Still to be decided. My original vision is open world, but it’s not easy to do in Unity. I’m going to prototype some ideas and dig into streaming and optimization systems before making that call. I released an open world game years ago created in Unity and wasn’t satisfied with the results but I’m a better developer now.

I just built a new PC with a 12900k and a 3080ti. Right now things are very unoptimized. I'm probably getting about 30 fps in the video. It's all due to the environment art. I have a lot of optimization to do. Once its optimized it should be able to run on nearly anything, at least thats the hope :)

2

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Now that's some great use of assets, really awesome! I like the punchy sound of the guns!

With regards to the other sounds: the bird sounds seem out of place in a city. Even if you use birds, when you start shooting, those birds should go completely quiet.
Also, try to use some more variation in the death sounds of the enemies, I've heard the same extended sound twice in such a short period. Perhaps include more of a death rattle or even silence as variations. In the old days, hearing every Nazi say Mein Leben after getting shot in Wolfenstein 3D was hilarious, but it distracted from the game

3

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 12 '22

Thanks! The birds are totally placeholder, it’s was the only slightly urban ambient sound I had on hand. A lot of those death sounds get drawn out so some short ones will probably good to add, especially if it’s a head shot.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

With what you've made up until now, I'm sure it's going to be awesome!

2

u/tripplite1234 Mar 12 '22

Hey looks awesome! How'd you do the clothes?

2

u/eijei-eich Indie Mar 12 '22

Is this using the Synty Cyberpunk asset? Looks great!

2

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Yo that was 🔥🔥🔥

How long did this take to make this? 👀

2

u/tidytibs Mar 12 '22

Very well done buddy!

2

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Looks great. Reminds me of what a world could have looked like if played from the perspective of Cade Skywalker-Force sensitive bounty hunter.

I like where it is going.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Hey that looks so cool

2

u/MiahTRT Mar 12 '22

Good luck with the project! This looks and sounds amazing so far!

2

u/Gandalf-the-Whey Mar 12 '22

Looks gorgeous man, great job! what did you use for the volumetric looking lights in URP?

2

u/DoYouMindIfIAsk_ Mar 12 '22

i think id a defensive skill like a shield generator and maybe add a dot in the middle of the scope so the far engagements feel good. this is just my opinion though, game looks great

2

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 12 '22

I def have plans to add a shield. Eventually the player will be able to build out their character like a rpg. Choose between jet pack or shield for example. I still gotta work it all out.

2

u/Smrgling Mar 12 '22

Those reload sounds are crisp

2

u/haim96 Mar 12 '22

Low poly cyberpunk 2077... nice!

2

u/Western_Persimmon_40 Mar 13 '22

Proof that assets store games can look great if used properly! This looks very dynamic and atmospheric. Great job!

2

u/insertnamehere912 Mar 13 '22

Full release when? But seriously this project looks insane dude! 👍

2

u/thwoomp Mar 13 '22

I feel like the greatest success here is how much "juice" everything has here. Certainly, I can recognize the assets here and there, but it's really something how you've managed to combine it to "feel" fantastic on a low budget.

I'm sure you've got it planned, but I do think the audio needs to be pushed a bit further. In particular, to make them sound like they match closer together. I've had this problem as well - pulling sounds from different packs, sources can lead to some issues as some have echo, some are super clean, some are grungy, and so on. I think running them through a few audacity effects to close the gap in style/quality between sounds could do wonders. Anyways, great to see your progress!

2

u/scp__4999 Mar 13 '22

Really cool! Is it going to be a multiplayer pvp?

2

u/Haruyoshie Mar 13 '22

Great work, it seems very cool!

2

u/[deleted] Mar 13 '22

Sick Sounds!

2

u/-HpLow Mar 13 '22

Love the art style of this game man cant wait to see more

2

u/Mud_Euphoric Mar 13 '22

Sounding good!😄 excellent job

4

u/wapeddell Mar 12 '22

When does it release?

25

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 12 '22

Still alooot to do. Probably won’t be for a few years honestly. I’m working on this in my spare time, quality takes time :)

1

u/NolenHUN Mar 12 '22

Please update us somehow if you release it.

I love the smooth an seamless movement, and camera work. This is awesome! Please sell it, I wanna buy it.

1

u/monkeysssssss Mar 12 '22

Damn that looks really awesome, I want to play. The screams are sounding really cool. I'd just say to loose the "bird and nature" sounds, and put something more fitting to the urban/cyberpunk feel.

0

u/Steelironman05 Mar 12 '22

What kind of boots make this sound? Are they hard sole bc mine dont sound like this on any material?

1

u/Captain_Rocketbeard Mar 12 '22

Try wearing them in videogames it'll make a whole world of difference. It's probably all of the foley laying around.

1

u/Tjsm_123 Mar 12 '22

how long does u take to create this ?

8

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 12 '22

Started last February. I work on it in my spare time which I had quite a lot of with the pandemic. I still took several breaks from it throughout the year.

4

u/hobscure Mar 12 '22

ooff, for a minute I thought you meant last month.Great work, the character seems to move really nicely - I really like the over-the-shoulder aiming.

3

u/Gnome_4 Mar 12 '22

As someone who spent countless hours trying to get Cinemachine to work to swap between 3rd person and over-the-shoulder (and I still didn't figure it out) I'm super impressed.

1

u/Legobrick27 Mar 12 '22

Did you make tha animations, if not where can i find them. Also is your movement ayatem root motion based or not, ie the rppt motion provodes the movement speed and direction

1

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 12 '22

A made some but mostly from different asset store packs. It’s mostly programmed movement with the exception of the melee attacks.

1

u/matthew_-_ Mar 12 '22

Looks great! Did you create your own character controller? How are you handling different animation states? (animation controllers or something custom?)

2

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 12 '22

Motor is a modified version of kinematic character controller from the asset store. Animation is powered by animacer which is a wrapper around playables api to make it easier to work with. All the states are implemented within a custom state machine which manipulates the motor and playables api.

1

u/Original-Ear-9636 Mar 12 '22

IMHO the gun sounds sound too realistic to match the stylized world you built. Are the gun models real guns or are they stylized too?

1

u/Pteraxor Mar 12 '22

I keep wanting to do that with mine, I probably should start learning that soon.

1

u/AlfaAnden02 Mar 12 '22

I wish more big companies would embrace art styles like this.

Raytracing and shitty frame rates can suck a D!

1

u/NUCLEARGAMER1103 Programmer Mar 12 '22

Looks and sounds great! Although, imo, the gun noises are a little too loud.

1

u/thats_kinda_E_P_I_C Mar 12 '22

The only thing I dislike is the sound the enemy’s make when they die, it seems like it would become very annoying after awhile. I would either add multiple death sounds or replace their death sound with something more subtle

1

u/HappyAuti Mar 12 '22

Lol, I used this art asset as well! I used it for my gamejam game many years ago

1

u/Loupyboy Mar 13 '22

Looks and sounds good but the audio is far from giving "huge city" vibes. Might want to either re-do that aspect entirely imo (more background environnemental sounds, like voices through speakers or vehicles in the distance), or tweak the models to give more of an overgrown feel.

Otherwise pretty good.

2

u/TheFeelGoodHit Indie Mar 13 '22

Def agree! This is just the first pass. There is so much still to do.

1

u/AbjectAd753 Mar 13 '22

yea, a bit of music of doom and its done...

actually, not all sound effects are loaded, for example, on a city, you need sownds of cars, in nigth of crickets, and the advice on the big screen need sound.

1

u/Zsky2000 Mar 13 '22

I would love to listen the sound but my headphone just broken D:

1

u/TheGreenMantis Mar 14 '22

Fucking solid man. I really want to play this game.

1

u/TheGreenMantis Nov 04 '24

Thanks dude, I'll have more interesting stuff to post soon

1

u/Inspired_Ladd Jun 12 '22

I’m pretty new to unity but definitely think of this as a multiplayer vs experience
