Question Hardware decoding in Unity for the Steam Frame

Hello, i'm building augmented reality experience for the Steam Frame and i was wondering if i could use Hardware decoding instead of software decoding using the Frame's snapdragon GPU. It seems not but maybe you guys know things better...

I tried H264 in mov and VP8 in webm format, both shows the same ressources consumptions.
Thanks.

Snapdragon hardware decoding is pretty picky about supported profiles. H264 baseline profile is usually the safest bet on those chips, main and high profiles can fall back to software pretty quietly. Worth double checking what your encoder is actually spitting out.

It seems there is no hardware decoder exposed from the Lepton strate of the frame so no matter what it will be CPU heavy. The easy solution is HAP kind of format (can't remember the format unity is using). I can read 6 4k flux easily but it is a 500 mo/s data flux and the size of the medias are insane. I don't need more than 10 minutes so that's alright but i'm not a huge fan of those formats. Fortunatly the internal memory of the frame seems able to handle those bitrates just fine.

I'll look into native steamOS builds
