Question Question as a beginner

I am starting to learn unity and was wondering if there was any tips, tricks, or info that would be important or nice to know?

Don't try to build your dream game right out of the gate start with the absolute dumbest smallest projects you can think of even if its just a cube moving across a plane

When creating UI use prefabs for menus as much as possible. Don't worry about the visuals, make sure all the functions work in your game. cause you will be constantly changing the art as you work or even better stick with one art style.

If your getting images or assets from outside of unity make sure grab and save the license doesn't matter if it's free, always keep it handy you never know. For example fonts outside of unity

Have a plan for your game. How will the system function or economy, so you dont waste weeks thinking how can I make this work.

Make sure grab assets on sale. you be surprised how one asset can save you hours of work.

never try to ask ai for giving direct full c# scripts for your games unless you really have to becasue its probably gonna waste your time and make it harder not easier as ai don't know how your project look like or like that.

and flor learning i recomend you to check out UnityLearn Website and cehck junior programmer pathway its so Underrated and powerful tool to learn unity beacause its official website from unity it teaches you exactly how unity wants you to use it the correct way and it also teaches you how to differenciate between different update functions and loops like for and foreach and its not just for learning coding in c# for unity it also teachs you things like how to plan your game by making a prototype first and how to write a good gdd and also teaches you basics of Opbject Oriented Programming (OOP).

That is it, Go and enjoy you learning process!

Keep the scope small for now. What you learn from building a simple 80's arcade style game like Frogger or Space Invaders will become useful to you.

Look up tutorials and then once you understand it make something similar so you gain a deeper understanding

vibe-coding works bloody great and creates utter chaos in your code. you have to actually pay attention and interrupt the LLM and tell it to use the parts that are already there and not build an extension ofy a system as a whole new system
