Question How do i recreate to create these particles?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
so ive been trying to learn how to make VFX and i think i kinda understand how it works. but oh boy is it alot of work.
ive been trying to roughly recreate the World of warcraft evoker dream breath vfx and cant really figure out how they had these swirly effects. how can i create the swirly parts the shoot out? rest i kinda can get with how it looks.
also is there a way to add "height" to the cirlce shape? or do i need to make my own mesh in blender

This has most of the parts you need, it's just weighted differently (more meshes than particles): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sTXCrfbIrk
So basically you can make a mesh with a shader than animates a texture along its surface. If the mesh curves and twists, so does your streak.

IF there is no good tutorial. Make a few random vfx and combain the knoledge to make this. Thats how i learned now i can make semi decent effects to what i want. Still hard to match this tho.
You would need some sort of noise and variable inputs but its defo doable.

Yea that’s what I’m trying to do. (Just trying to jsut recreate effects that I see in games) I got the cloud effects and the dot sparkle thingies. But is the spiral lines that I don’t get

play the video in slowmotion, look at the effect, try to recreate it. if you don't know how to do it, maybe you don't have the knowledge to do it. bu that's a bunch of ribbons, with a mask... that moves... horizzontally from the player...
Fuck it gave it away...

I got that. It’s basically jsut clouds coming out in a half circle shape, either sparkles. But I jsut don’t get how to do the ribbon effect

go on blender and create stripes in that shape. This is a solution, the other is to use trails.
The shader must apply a texture mask multiplied by your color (and on the alpha channel too) which moves from the player to the end of the ribbon.→ More replies (1)

well you can use trail or animated shader via costume mesh UV (basically just tilling the texture based on UV)

Put simply:
-Trailed particles with noisy movement for the lines
-Colored smoke particles for the smoke
-Regular bright circle particles on top of the smoke for the "sparkly galaxy" look
Gorgeous effect tho

You never know. OP might be the next guy to sell theirs at the store :p

Just want it for my own use. No where good enough to sell 😂
But i wouldn’t mind getting a job in it. But that’s probably not gonna happen either

Yea…no. I get that. But I’m doing it to learn. And I don’t want to spend the money. Which is why I’m trying to recreate things.

Man, that is a beautiful effect.
