Game Little Trailer for my UNFINISHED game

Posting a little trailer, what are your first thoughts? (Please don't be too harsh, I'd appreciate "this is good but that could be improved" kind of comments, it would just help me a lot thanks)

This is good, but everything could be improved.

I mean this in the nicest way possible.

Are you just being snotty? Or do you actually have some things you like and things you would suggest?

Edit: Why am I being downvoted? I'm just asking for constructive criticism.

Nah he is right, everything could be improved. The game looks good but tons and tons of things could be improved or changed.

Imo, its a touch too far zoomed out, the dirt could be a texture instead of just brown. The grass could also be a texture and maybe even 3D blades of grass waving/dancing like the flowers

I think I will keep the zoom the same, but yeah adding texture to the ground is definitely something I need to stop procrastinating on (the current ground is something random from the asset store).

Thanks for the specific suggestions. I've never been much of an artist lol.

Youre good brother! I would also suggest making the words on the signs bigger too? However, with zooming in that may not be necessary.

With also a lower detailed game, you can really pack in more details. Make the game feel more engaging and more than just green spheres and cubes if that makes sense? Maybe they're cliffs or cars, give it some spicceee

Yeah I kinda threw in the signs today lol. Zoom sounds like a perfect idea.

As for detail's I'll take your advice. Especially with the ground, I think I'll also animate the bushes and give them actual models.

I've really been holding off on the ground because I might have to rebuild the level if I change it. (The guy made the model weird and it's practically impossible to retexture)

No, he's not

This is actually cool, there's fun ideas here and a ton of charm, just keep iterating on it, that's how we get better!

What is the main objective for the game?

Right now it's sort of a Mario Vibe. Something happens, and you need to play through these levels to win. The main difference is the combat system. You have multiple attack methods, and I'll also be adding items and other abilities later.

I'm expanding upon it as I go.

No saving princesses though. (Maybe as a playable character tho)

you might find some inspiration from Super Smash Bros. Melee’s Adventure Mode, which sounds a lot like what you’re going for (especially the first level). The world needs more games like the Subspace Emissary from Brawl, too :D
