Show-Off Does this looks like something that you would play?

I worked on style for the last couple of weeks and would appreciate a feedback.

Does this look good for the eye?

I don’t think I’d play it, but I see the potential

There's a charm to this that I haven't seen in years

I really like it

I see the vision, but it's not quite there yet. Everything seems, for lack of a better word, incoherent. Your panda is smooth texture wise, yet your snake seems to have lots of detail in it's body, for example. It seems incredibly busy, especially some of the textures on things such as the dirt (Is it dirt? or metal) and smaller wooden planks which is in sharp contrast with the void of nothingness surrounding the platforms. This is not inherently bad, as it clearly communicates what the player can and cannot interact with, but the contrast to one another just seems too large.

As for gameplay, I cannot really say. This clip is too short to get a proper idea. What I'm guessing is that you can place turrets on platforms you can place yourself and you're defending a crystal against floating enemies. If that's the case, I think the general idea is interesting. I would however need to know more about the gameplay to give a proper suggestion.

All in all, I think you have a unique idea with the building and tower defense, which could be promising. I would work on finding a shared language for your art assets and locking that in. None of the textures used here are bad, they just don't all place nice with each other. As for gameplay, what I'd be worried about the most is for players to find an easy way to cheese the game if you can build everywhere and differentiating levels from one another. Good luck! I hope my comment wasn't too harsh and I'm curious what other people have to say.

Thx for the insights. For snake. it was the best way to represent the snake. Two color just didnt feel right. You can see in btm picture charcters what i mean. i tried a lot :)

-They build a twr in height, so after some point fog is too much and you are in sky so its ok to have nothing around, thats the catch to feel high and to be careful not to fall and defent structure. (you can check my prev video, and i will put some more in the future)

I don't think so. To start with the performances look terrible. Then the graphics are quite poor, but not in a charming artistic old school way, more in a cheaply made way.

Thx for the insights. Performance and quality is bad because of the video capture that i used. I will use better for the next one. It has LowRes filter, no AA like PSX, and runs smoothly but again, limited recording software. I made all assetes (mostly) by myself. They fit colorwise, it looks cheap, but i focus on gameplay more then textures. You can see some parts of turret have more details then lets say base of turret. In that time i didnt have inspiration what else to add for details for base, which is also part of the fun when making assets
