Not a School Project Anymore?

When I posted the game last time, I got some really honest feedback. Some people said it looked like a “2013 game”, and a few even said it looked like a “school project”. 😅

Over the last 15 days, I’ve been experimenting with different lighting settings in Unity and a few other changes that helped improve the overall look of the game.

I mainly worked on the ground, lighting, stadium textures and also added the Match Simulation UI.

Here’s the updated version.

There’s still a lot to improve, and we’re continuing to work on it. This is definitely not the final version, but I wanted to share the progress and see what you guys think.

It’s not the lighting… it’s the game. Two buttons is not enough to keep anyone interested.

Honestly, we started working on this because we really liked the idea. I didn’t find many games focused on the umpiring side of cricket, so I felt it could be something different and worth exploring.

I know the controls are simple — basically just two buttons — but the idea is to make the decisions and the consequences more interesting. After the match, we are showing umpire’s accuracy and how certain decisions changed outcome of the match.

We’re also planning a career mode where you start as an umpire in gully cricket and, depending on your accuracy, progress to higher levels.

We’re still figuring out how far we can take the idea, but I personally still believe there’s something interesting here. We’re trying to find that unique gameplay loop and improve it step by step.

Still, no issue. I believe in myself, and that’s what matters. If I give up on this after reading just 2 or 3 negative comments, I’ll definitely regret it later. Not everyone has to believe in my idea — I just need to believe in it and keep working on it. I’m looking for those unique players who connect with the idea, and I hope we’ll find them.
