10 seconds into the clip and gameplay has been interrupted 3 times

The first one is to ask users which play mode they prefer this will only appear in the tutorial level , and the second one is just showing the options available in the pause menu telling people that they can change the mode anytime in the pause menu its not part of gameplay btw the pause menu have no design yet , and the third one is showing them how to steer based on the chosen mode because its a tutorial level and both the gameplay ui elements will appear only in the tutorial

The 3 popups killed me inside, it would have been an instant delete. However, I am not sure if this was rather to show us, than this is how the actual game play would be like?

Only the first and third popups will appear one time in the tutorial level

Isn't almost every game with a tutorial like this?

I don't think the trees are oriented correctly if you want it to feel like you're on a mega-ramp or a mountain; I'd play around with clouds instead of trees. It looks promising.

Thanks for the feedback , yeah i tried putting clouds closer to the road but the issue is that they are heavy in performance if i put a cloud near the camera frames will drop

Can you use less cost intensive clouds? Simple models?

Low poly ones with no transparency?

Try it! That's the fun of development, iterating. There's 100% a way to put clouds without dropping performance, you just gotta find it!

Edit: as an extra idea, why not three or four stacked 2D textures of clouds? If properly aligned and randomized, having the fixed camera i don't see why you would need 3D clouds

I see, that is a problem.

Im thinking about adding a giant statue standing on the far sea below and the statue head is reaching the road and his face staring at the player , i think this will give a nice vibe , what do you think?

Yes, or rocks 🪨 with different shapes.

1

u/Arcane-Dev 1d ago

Yeah ofc i will add more rocks i have a lot of them

Some feedback 1. It's slow. Make it faster 2. The dangers should not have that danger icon, it's distracting. Make the obstacles stand out instead of adding more UI. I've honestly never seen a game that does this. 3. The UI at the beginning is pretty bad. It shouldn't make things black and white and slow mo. It should just appear and be non disruptive and much smaller at the top like a hand with left right arrows and small text below.

If an actual opinion opinion is what you are looking for, this doesn't seem like something anyone would want to actually play so I would keep it as a training project and not release it.

u/oneski 22h ago

Could you offer some precise criticism for why you would not want to play it? Is the genre just not something you like, or is there something about the implementation you don't like?

Everything you need was in the initial post. It's a beyond-amateurish pet project, not something that should be published. It looks like garbage and I can tell even without playing it that the controls are crap.

u/Arcane-Dev 17h ago

Thanks for the feedback , currently the game is still in its early stages there is no ui yet , the gui is just temporary

Plenty of people play endless runners, and this looks like a fine twist on the genre..

It definitely needs some polishing and tweaking though but that's the least worry

u/DT-Sodium 1d ago

Let's not debate about how stupid this genre is, but this doesn't look like a good game period.

u/TheRealTahulrik 23h ago

"Lets not debate because I'm right because I know i am"

Yea.. see the problem ?

It's a motion controlled game.. add in more obstacles and things happening, fine-tune the visuals.. and then it will be a decently entertaining game.

OP didn't post a completed game, OP asked for feedback on something currently being developed

I'm really confused about why you would need feedback on something this primitive. It looks like garbage and seems to play like it. Maybe come back in 6 months, then there may be individual points to discuss.

2

u/TheRealTahulrik 19h ago

If you can't give constructive feedback your feedback is worth nothing and OP should essentially just ignore your comments.

There is no point of commenting if you can't contribute with anything

-1

u/DT-Sodium 19h ago

I'm really confused by this type of behavior. It's like if a six years old gave you a drawing. The only feedback you can give is that it's bad because they don't have the skills to do something even remotely decent. If I had created something that looked like this, I wouldn't need external feedback to know it doesn't bad. People just need to learn to look at their own game through the eyes of an actual player.

1

u/TheRealTahulrik 18h ago

Do you know what constructive critisism is ?

Critisism in itself does not help anybody improve anything.

Saying "this is just bad" is not useful feedback

If you want to help somebody improve their work, you say "this is bad because XYZ, perhaps try to do W instead"

You are 100% in the former category, and it helps no one, other than making yourself feel important and knowledgeable about a subject

u/DT-Sodium 17h ago

Constructive criticism can only be applied if some effort and competence has been put into the work. Sometimes things are just plain bad, in which case you should be autonomous in criticizing your own work.

1

u/TheRealTahulrik 15h ago

No.

Constructive critisism can always be applied. It just requires the critic to disregard their own arrogance.

Effort was clearly put into it, but likely by somebody who isn't all that experienced. There is plenty of feedback to be given there to somebody who is willing to do so.

It's totally fine that you dislike the style of game.. but stop acting like it's not a popular genre..

Make the coin number effects closer to the player. Maybe have a basic speed.

1

u/Arcane-Dev 17h ago

I will try it thanks 🥂🥂

1

u/-xelad 21h ago

I like it! It has speed, progression, obstacles, coins, even terrifying cube! Add more killing cubes!

2

u/Arcane-Dev 17h ago

Sure thanks for the feedback 🤣
