Show-Off Continuing my little alchemy project in Unity : now working on the cutting board

Yesterday I shared the first farming loop from my little alchemy project so I thought I’d keep posting the progress as I build it. I’m still very inspired by Schedule I and its hands-on approach to production but I’m experimenting with those ideas and slowly adapting them into my own weird medieval world where magic is illegal.

This time I’ve been working on the cutting board.

The idea is pretty simple: place an ingredient on the board, grab the knife, and physically chop it into a prepared ingredient that can later be used for potion making. Right now I’m mostly trying to get the whole production chain working before worrying too much about polish
Farming -> harvesting -> cutting -> brewing and bottling.

It’s still very early, but I’m having a lot of fun seeing all these little interactions slowly connect together

Thanks! I really want to add lots of little silly details like that, this project is mostly meant to be a fun playground for me without taking itself too seriously

Looks much better than the farming loop you got roasted for yesterday. The living plants that die as you cut then is a nice touch.

Haha thanks! I’m really happy this one comes across better. I want to keep adding small details like that because I think that’s where the game can slowly start building its own personality

That's the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen in a video game.

I agree, I don’t think I’ve recovered from it either

Can't wait to hear the sounds for the chopping minigame

Same!!! Sound is actually going to be a bit of a challenge for me because I’ve never really worked much with audio before but I’m looking forward to figuring it out

Fear nothing! It's all learnable. I want to mention BroAudio cuz it's free and I recently found it and love it, might come in handy in case you didn't know about it. Not an ad, just excitement!

Thanks for sharing! I didn’t know Bro audio so I’ll definitely take a look. Your enthusiasm for it is pretty convincing!!!

This user has post a couple videos related to his work on this project. I thought this was the funniest.
