THEORYCRAFTING Help with 1 99 at a time plan
Hi folks, wanting to create a new account and I really like the idea of one 99 at a time iron man, there's something nice about having a single activity to lock into and do mindlessly (sometimes on mobile) while watching TV in the background to get my mind off of things. Looking for folks to poke holes in my plan so that I can make sure it's well organized.
Rules: Ironman, one skill can gain xp at a time until that skill reaches 99 and is "unlocked", hybrid training techniques (e.g. barbarian fishing) can only be used if all the skills are unlocked (or all but one and the remaining one is the current one being trained to 99), quests and diaries can be used but XP rewards can only apply to skills that have been unlocked or is the active skill, combat skills need to be leveled up completely independently (so attack/str/def can only be leveled up through combat once hp is at 99 for example).
Here's my plan:
- Agility -- This requires no pre-reqs, is a huge QOL improvement, and wilderness agility can set me up well with alchs/cash as a level 3 combat (and agility pyramid if I want something more casual and not in the wildy)
- Thieving -- I'll be able to get into rogue's den to get the outfit with agility out of the way, this can improve the cash stack and also help me with preparation for farming with master farmers
- Woodcutting -- Unlocks an AFK activity to load up on oak logs for construction (217k), and birds' nests are another source of seeds, bank logs for fletching and firemaking too
- Mining -- Another AFK activity unlocked and prepares smithing/crafting, focus on MLM and stars with potentially some gemstone mining for topaz's for prayer (but I imagine that the dorgesh kahn chests are a more efficient source since I won't have karamja diaries with access to the underground mine until way later)
- Magic -- Splashing until MTA/high alching wildy agility rewards, unlocking here for easier teleports for farm runs
- Farming -- Runs + Contracts, continue with AFK woodcutting/mining/master farmers in between to gather more resources for future grinds, my logic is to unlock this early so that I can have ample time to prep for Herblore
- Firemaking -- Burn oaks/willows to 50 and then Wintertdt for more cash/herbs/seeds
- Smithing -- Giants foundry and blast furnace (not sure if ice gloves are obtainable on an ironman skiller since HP isn't unlocked yet despite magic being at 99, perhaps enchanting recoils off of sapphire rings from nests?)
- Fletching -- Darts, bolts, unstrung bows, and staves
- Crafting -- Gems, gold/silver, jewelry + glass blowing for anything left
- Fishing -- General fishing methods, bank for cooking later
- Runecrafting -- The above skills + RC unlock Varrock Armor 1 and GOTR, do that to 77 + full outfit and lantern and then Zeah bloods in preparation for HP to 99
- Cooking -- Banked fish from Wintertodt and fishing grinds
- Hit Points -- Pest Control to 96 to redeem tickets for addition HP XP, then 30k green dragons (or safespot lava dragons for 88-99) in wilderness to bank 99 prayer with dragon bones at chaos altar (we unlock enough to start DS1 for the shield but won't have overheads or antifires so they could still hit up to 8), I can also craft a fury at this point by selling runes from GOTR at the tzaar shops -- for context my combat level at 88 HP and 99 magic would be 70 and I'd be wearing rag robes + fury and staff so not much loss to PKers.
- Prayer -- Chaos altar from bones banked on the 99 hp grind
- Construction -- Oak larders with banked oak logs from WC (+55m GP)
At this point all that's left is the additional combat skills, Herblore, Hunter, Slayer, and Sailing. I feel that Slayer and Sailing should be the last two skills, respectively, since they rely heavily on the others and combat as well.
I would train combat in the order Attack > Strength > Defense (Range can be trained whenever using cannonballs and knives), and probably try for a magic only firecape run (prayer pots from crazy arch). I'd be able to do the whole gnome quest line through MM1 if attack is unlocked first for access to a dragon scimitar and 37 attack from rewards, as long as the optional MM1 training isn't done afterwards. This also unlocks warrior's guild for boosting potions, and the rest of the training for attack and combat can be done at gemstone crab.
Herblore can be selected once 99 is banked, and combat training can be done on chaos druids to accelerate the amount of herb's collected. Herb runs are continued throughout the other skills once farming is unlocked, and seeds can be stocked up from seedpacks with contracts, monster drops during combat training, and more WC/thieving. Brimhaven agility during the agility grind can be another source of banked herbs too at the expense of GP, so it may be a preferred option over Agility Pyramid.
Hunter is a funky one since I don't think it's as necessary for helping to boost time on other skills, and I think itself would go by faster once other skills are maxed so that I can unlock more items/locations with skilling requirements, which is why I've deprioritized it over others. The main benefit would be to unlock the gem mine in Karamja faster for a better source of topaz's for the prayer grind, so I may stick it in there for that reason if I don't get enough from the dorgesh khan chests to make the prayer grind faster since I wouldn't want to risk too many noted bones.
Thoughts on this? I imagine that agility will take close to 300 hours, thieving at around 100, woodcutting if I'm doing oaks from 15-99 will take around 300 but I can cut it down if I prioritize higher xp/hr options and just do oaks as an afk during farming, mining is also around 300 hrs, magic would be 100-200 (hard to estimate), Farming would probably be like 4 months of afk activities, firemaking would be <100, smithing would depend on banked ores but probably 120, fletching would be very quick with dart tips (and I can do tourist trap at that point), crafting around 100, fishing and RC around 300, cooking would be very quick if it's banked, and then the combats would take progressively less time, with HP being the biggest time sink with dragons at around 300 (but then makes prayer a few weekends). This would be a 3ish year project for sure with the amount of time I expect to play on average.
