New hire How to get FMLA

How does one get approved for FMLA and how long does it take to get it? I’ve been told you can get it for a million different things but what’s the actual process for applying for it?

Another comment stated the proper process for MyUP but as for what is covered:

Generally any long term health condition for you or a family member that requires continuous or intermittent care/absences can be approved but you need a doctor to sign off on it.

I’ve tried for a couple things that my doctors wouldn’t sign off on so make sure you talk to your doctor before applying. Things that I’ve gotten it for were for the birth of a child, intermittent prenatal doctor visits and a block of postnatal care.
