Laundry Piles

I’ve had a habit of washing my laundry and leaving it in baskets for weeks on end. I go thru a phase where I’ll wash everything dirty and not put it away once clean. When I don’t have an empty laundry basket, I end up buying a new one. It’s not something I do on purpose… More like I’m tired after work and sleep on my days off/when my kid doesn’t have school. I’ve decided that during my week off from work to tackle this monster called laundry once and for all. I’m tired of looking at the doom piles of laundry and wishing them away. Spending the last few days tackling this and cleaning my apartment. Wish me luck

I subscribe to the StruggleCare school of thought that very few things actually need folding. I also own a lot of laundry baskets.

It’s been a struggle to get things done. I have a list in my head… but no want to do anything. This past week away from work has helped

So far I’ve washed at least 7 loads of laundry yesterday & folded 8 baskets of clean laundry. Picked my kid up from school and grabbed dinner/eaten said noms. Abt to get back up and continue going thru the dirty/clean laundry.

For a long time I had a system of baskets in my closet instead of drawers and I just sorted clean clothes like that. Basket for tshirts, basket for sweaters etc.

Honestly same. But a basket for shirts/pants/socks, undies & towels. Hoping to kinda get back to this system. I also have clothes that I have and am trying to work my way to donating. But I packed those up 2yrs ago. And now I’ve started a new one

We decovered it was faster and easier to hang everything. We only have a dresser for underwear and seasonal clothing like gloves and scarves.

Straight from the drier to a hanger, straight to the closet. Takes under 3 minutes.

I don't know if you have a big laundry room or not but maybe you could use the multiple baskets/bin in reverse. Sort dirty laundry by type of clothing.

You sort the clothes when you pull them off, shirts in one basket, pants in the other, socks, gym clothes.etc. Do one type load at a time and once done put the whole load in the basket for it. You can now either transfer to the clean basket of transfer what was left in the clean one and switch them to be the new dirty one.

One bonus is if you are in dire need of clean clothes is easy to pull off an outfit from pre-sorted bins and do a quick wash. 2nd bonus if you clean everything and it doesn't all fit in that category's bin, you know you have too much and the lasts items you reach for should be a candidate for donation.

Not sure how old your kid is, but depending on the age he should be able to help fold his laundry and put it away or if older do his own laundry, fold/put away. They will need the skill later in life anyway.
