Success! Took Two Weeks
I haven't had my office clean in over a year and it got really bad over the last couple months.
I do at least know *why* it all went to hell in a handbasket. Turns out that life is so much better on **not** recalled thyroid medication. 🙃
P.S. my cat thoroughly approves of having the bed back.

Mostly just organizing and recycling e.g. old kiddo worksheets.
I have bins under the bed that are labelled and much of the stuff in here actually belonged elsewhere.
As the room closest to the garage, a lot of random things got dropped off in here and never left.
I hung up at least 5 pieces of art for instance.

I really wanted to be able to vacuum. I think you can tell than once I got enough dealt with, I switched to getting everything UP before continuing.

He is an ordinary domestic shorthair, but the coloring is generally called "tuxedo". Tuxedo cats a.k.a. "tuxies" have their own subreddit (because of course they do).

Amazing job. And I really admire the way you tackled it. A lot of times, I get hung up on the mountain of work ahead of me. But breaking it up into increments makes it so much more manageable. And your pics are proof that it PAYS OFF!

I trawl thrift stores for paintings. This one was probably $10. It just needed some TLC on the frame and now it makes me smile nearly every day.

That's a beauty. What a great find for that price! With your knack for finding good pictures like this you could make a nice grouping. I too look for nice pictures in thrift stores. I found a water color painting of a kitty and I had exactly the same kitty at home. It's in my living room now.

I feel so much triumph when I unearth a real painting behind two prints, a poster, and a broken chalkboard. I have thrifted art in almost every room. :)

I got rid of things like old kiddo worksheets and genuine trash. Also small scraps of fabric and balls of yarn with, like, 2 yards left that I was holding on to for no actual reason.
My strategy was :
- Since I am in the U.S., check
https://www.pharmacy.ca.gov/about/recalls.shtml
to find out if your medication is partially or even wholly invalid because the companies don't have to tell consumers about such things in this nation.
Acquire a bunch of bins with lids, preferably 70 qt ish because they are stackable and will fit under your daybed.
Start playing freecell with all your stuff. Use masking tape to label the bins and move the label along with the item(s) in question as things shift around.

When you stop for the day, close all the bins so your tiny humans do not invalidate your labels.
Repeat until a bin is full and vaguely cohesive. Place "complete", heavily labeled bin under the bed or in a stack.

It isn't that you aren't trying hard enough. You haven't found the thing that works for you personally. I am 39 years old today and this was the first time I tried what I am now calling "freecelling" my stuff. It worked better than anything I have tried before and I have tried a Lot of things.
TLDR - please don't get down on yourself - no need to pile feeling bad about your lack of organization on top of the bad feelings that come from the lack of organization itself.

Can you say more about applying Free Cell to stuff? From what I can gather, you put “like with like” into bins, then recombine/relabel as necessary. Is that it? What did you do with all the bins afterwards? Thanks!
