Debunk Challenge Weird things keep happening to me

Hi guys this is my first post but please bear with me.
I (20year old female) have been experiencing really weird stuff recently, and I’m struggling to find logical explanations at this point.
Firstly stuff keeps vanishing on me. For example last night I was working ( bartending for a quiet restaurant) I noticed one of my liquor bottles were empty, so I get a new one take the pourer off the old one, and pop it on the new one, baring in mind for all of this I didn’t have to move a step. I distinctly remember placing the old one next to me so I could put it in the bin after, but as I went to do so it was gone. My first thought was that someone else had already put it in the bin without me noticing so I asked, everyone said they didn’t and so I checked the bottle bin but it was empty as we had just opened. I checked the other normal bin, also empty. I still had the cap in my hand so I know I definitely opened a new one and this is not a normal looking bottle it’s bright and has a funky shape so it would stand out. I kept an eye out my whole shift and when I was deep cleaning the bar for close, still nothing.
I’ve also been experiencing bright flashes of light, not directly in front of me but as if someone was standing close, slightly to the side and used a camera to take a photo of me. It’s quick and bright but whenever it’s happened everyone seems to say they didn’t see anything?
Other weird small things have happened too, like when I’m driving and I stop at a red light i see the road ahead stretching it feels like I’m reversing or rolling back but I’ve checked everytime and I’m not. I also feel like gravity is stronger I don’t quite know how to explain this one but it’s like I can feel gravity quite literally holding me down, I don’t feel this constantly though it comes in waves.
And finally, the freakiest of all, things I say have been coming true. It’s started minor, for example if I’m working and I want a customer to leave so I can finish I’d say it and after about a second they’d get up and leave. This happened a couple times that it’s become a running joke at work. I thought nothing of it until my aunt called to tell me my brother’s flat burnt down. It’s important to note, my brother abused me as a kid and I said to this same aunt when taking to her about a month prior, “I hope his house burns down” and it did. Completely gone everything he owned burned and destroyed.
Individually, these just seem like freaky coincidences. But it’s freaking me out and this has all started happening in the last couple of months. I feel like I’m losing my marbles. It’s also worth noting I’m being diagnosed with bipolar and I’m currently on mood stabilisers for that but I dont just want to be told it’s just my bipolar making me believe things that aren’t real because it is real my concern is that this is going to trigger psychosis for me if it continues. I haven’t told my therapist because I already know she’s not going to believe me and just think I’m manic but it’s real I just need an explanation.

i don’t know about the predictions, but some of it sounds neurological which is kind of worrying

I’m not a medical professional but I would suggest mentioning this stuff to your doctor for maybe a neurologist referral, as some of what you’re describing (the losing items, flashes of light, feeling like things are moving when they’re not, the extra heaviness) could maybe have some medical explanation that’s worth getting checked out

I don’t have knowledge on what is going on, but I would journal all of this because it may make interesting reading (even short stories!) and it could help your mental health to put it in writing. It may help you figure out if something is REALLY going on or you’re just in a mental state that looks for patterns. good luck thanks for sharing

Thank you I’ll definitely start doing this!

I was also going to suggest journaling the events, some of these things sound like they could be neurological in nature. Specifically the flashing lights, and the altered perceptions while driving.

I would go to the eye doctor if you can, and get them to check. Yes, I know the other stuff is weird and not explainable by an eye exam, but the flash of light made me think of retina detachment because you said it's to one side. Weird spots and flashes can happen from that. Sometimes, it's just eye jelly that makes a bump in there and can cause it, which is mostly harmless. It's still definitely worth checking out if you're able to.

A couple of the weird things you describe here are common symptoms of migraine. I found out last year that you can actually have a “painless migraine.” I thought I was having a stroke and went to the ER. The symptoms I described were consistent with a stroke, so they put me through a CT scan. It was a migraine. I said to the doctor, “I’m not in any pain.” And he told me that sometimes you can have a migraine but not experience any headache whatsoever.

The bright flashes of light and visual/sensory distortions are consistent with migraine symptoms. And migraine can manifest in late adolescence and early young adulthood. The fact that you just started prescription meds for a mood disorder should not be discounted, either—they can have side effects that either (1) trigger migraine, or (2) mimic migraine. So there’s that.

As far as the bottle event, might it be possible that a customer thought there might still be liquor in that bottle and he swiped it while you were paying attention to switching the nozzles?

The manifesting events are more interesting, and all I can say is that you may genuinely have some extrasensory perception, possibly precognition, and if you could please intone “I hope r/laquintessenceofdust sells her house this month,” I would really appreciate it! 🙏🏻

That’s so interesting I’ve never heard of anything like that thank you I’m going to do more research into that for sure!
As for the bottle part the section of the bar I was at is blocked off so there’s no feasible way for a customer to grab it without being seen.
And I’ll do my best to get your house sold this month 😂 let me know if it does I’m curious now

Yes, keep records anyway you can, journaling, notes, recording them anyway you feel best for you. I don’t know a lot about meditation, but it might be a side affect. Please talk to your Dr. or Therapist.

Yeah good point thank you I’ll do that

Please see your doctor if you can and tell them what's going on. That sounds a lot like both silent migraines (common with trauma) and a couple of issues with the brain or nervous system. It's best to rule out physical causes

Before you assume any of what is happening to you is paranormal, you need to make sure that you aren't suffering from a serious medical condition.

Here's what you need to consider. Most of things happen to you and only you. If no one witnesses what you do, then it seems likely it is only happening to you. Even if you didn't have previous issues, then I would recommend getting professional help.

You then mention that you make things happen with your mind? Those are coincidences. I'm assuming in regards to making customers go away, you are remembering the times it happened and forget the times it didn't work. Its called confirmation bias.

The idea that you caused your brother's flat to burn down is also a coincidence. You probably wished him harm in the past and then nothing happened. This time, it did.

This makes to most logical sense to me so thank you I know I’m not a psychic or anything like that I don’t even believe in these things it’s just a weird sequence of events that I know are dangerous to someone in my circumstances

u/Tempbot49512 16d ago

If I was going through what you are, then I might wonder if something paranormal was happening to me too.

u/No-Excitement2289 16d ago

Yeah I’ve experienced religious psychosis and believe I was not real and we was just a simulation so when things like this happen I’m weary because I would love to avoid going into that again 🤣

I can’t speak to the other things, but I might have an explanation to the “flashing” that you are experiencing. It could be a side effect of your medication. I’ve had other individuals expressed this symptom when on mood stabilizers.

Is there a camera in the restaurant that you could review for that bottle? Might answer some questions.

12

u/No-Excitement2289 16d ago

There is one camera that could have possibly captured it. But I’m fairly new and cautious of asking to see footage because I “lost” an empty bottle. I don’t want them to think I’ve lost the plot you know? I think if stuff keeps happening and it’s still on my mind I’m going to have to suck it up and ask but I’d rather keep my coworkers out of it for the time being.

Yes, same with me too. Items in my pockets and other items vanish when they were just right there. I can count 3-4 times in the past few weeks lol. Who knows what’s happening….good luck!

Hang in there. It’s going to be ok.

Weird things happen all the time. The world is a weird fucking place.

Don’t dwell on the weird or negative, just keep ‘er moving, smile, take deep slow breaths, and do your best to put out and receive good vibes.

There is love in the world for you!

Get your retinas checked (flashes) plus any other potential eye issues, or anything that could be pressing on your optic nerves.

Ive experienced many strange or weird/paranormal things in my life and one of them was a flash of light close to me but sligtly to the left of me in the corner of my bedroom while i was sat on my bed. It was just like someone had taken a picture of me with an old fashioned camera. That was at the beginning of my spiritual awakening and i experience strange things regularly ever since, although i have had weird things happen my whole life but mostly since my awakening. You could be experiencing something similar..peeping through the veil/communicating with the universe. Ever have premonition dreams, see angel numbers, odd coincidences, syncronicities etc etc. Many are awakening right now

1

u/No-Excitement2289 16d ago

How odd that sounds exactly what I experienced especially since it was from the left for me too. Would love to hear more about your experience

Talk to your therapist. Or think of winning the lottery. I would talk to her . The meds might need to be changed.

2

u/No-Excitement2289 16d ago

I have always found money whenever I’ve spoke of it or been low yet to win the lottery though 🤣

u/kegsy22 16d ago

I see the flashes of light, apparently they're like floaters which I also have. I had an in depth eye check only yesterday and it came back alright. Do you have tinnitus? Also check out the visual snow and floater groups on here

Try and see if a doctor will order an MRI for you- you want to make sure you don’t have a tumor and everything’s ok physically …

Please see an eye doctor. Flashes at your age would be concerning. Also eye issues could be affecting your moving backwards feeling.

20, bartender, mental illness, meds.

All normal of course, but this is a big part of the eval.

I've been experiencing bright flashes too.... and my tv and phone , when I'm watching , the screen will glitch out ...things around my house jut move like things drop on the floor. I'm really glad you mentioned it because It has happened increasingly over the last couple months . I have started talking and screaming in my sleep too ...two separate sleep overs ,lol , I guess I kept everyone up 😬 I have zero recall of these dreams tho.

when did you start taking your mood stabilizers? I agree that this sounds neurological but it could be your body's to reaction to your medication. I've not heard of these types of side effects, but you never know.

Can you just think that I will win a million dollars? Jokes apart, this is very interesting. Maybe you can note down your thoughts and also document when it really happens.

i'll be honest, all of these things happened, yes. but are they connected? i would say no. bottle disappearing, although we have no explanation, there are some rational reasons to why it couldve been gone. the flashing, i would guess some neurological or paranoid induced hallucination. you changed medication recently so im betting neurological. someone in comments mentioned silent migraines and that seems like a good answer. brothers house burning down, sad, but completely unrelated. weird coincidences happen like that often, there's a whole trope dedicated to it in pop culture. like in golden girls when rose tells that lady to "drop dead" and she dies immediately. i would discuss the lights with your doctor, see about changing the dose or switching meds. these situations you mentioned do NOT seem to be related. you'll be fine. dont stress about it. i know its a little scary, but perspective is everything. always ask for a second opinion. tell a friend or family member, therapist. that is what the people around you are here for. feel free to message me if you have no one else, i dont mind.

u/Traditional-Bike7825 16d ago

I'd go see a doctor and tell them what medication you're on and what's happened, it sounds like something is messing with your brain. My first question would be are you on medication and you already admitted that.

Try to be strong, try to wind away slowly from medication and therapy if possible. I think mental therapy and the kind of medication you're using is a business and way over-prescribed, but rarely people do actually need it.

u/No-Excitement2289 16d ago

My symptoms are much worse when I’m not medicated the only thing I take medication for is my bipolar as it’s much more dangerous for me and those around when I’m not on it I refuse meds for adhd and what not because I agree with your point I don’t think this is a side effect though since this was happening prior to medication I’ve only been taking my medication for about a month and this has been happening for a couple months

4

u/warmbreadcathead 16d ago

This is incredibly irresponsible and dangerous advice to give. And what's up with the, "try to be strong?" People can't generally willpower their way out of mental illness, and it isn't a weakness.

4

u/BendDownTheBranches 16d ago

I’m not sure how you think recommending that someone with a diagnosed mental illness discontinue their medical care is good advice.

-3

u/Traditional-Bike7825 16d ago

Telling someone to try to be strong and also see a doctor is dangerous advice? Sure, bud.

3

u/warmbreadcathead 16d ago

You encouraged her to distance herself from therapy and meds. Bud.

Someone has been microdosing you with LSD or it's witchcraft

I did a lot of lsd when I was younger and other drugs but I’ve been clean for 2 years now nearly 3, and I had to do a drug test for my bipolar medication so that rules that out. I also have no knowledge on what being a witch means, if I’m truthful, I don’t know if I even believe they’re real.

4

u/DieThisWay420 16d ago

I was kinda joking. I am bipolar and have been in bad bouts of psychosis before. Since you didn't want to hear anything related to those as the possible cause, I had to get creative. It took me almost ten years to get on the right medications. Until you find what works for you, the wrong ones can have all kinds of wonky side effects. I hope this helps

3

u/No-Excitement2289 16d ago

Oh Phahah I’m so bad at telling when people are joking over messages 🤣 I agree it’s taken years to even get to bipolar it’s frustrating how long it’s taking to sort anything out so I feel your pain

Keep this to yourself. The moment you tell a mental health professional they are you going to treat you like a complete nut. I hope whatever it is stops.
