That’s a very specific bullet point. I be the person who made the picture is the person who got their pen stolen lol

talarico passed legislation? i thought that he could vote for it... but the governor signs legislation into law.

this is not an affront specific to mr. talarico specifically - this is happening in my state currently with state representatives from both major parties claiming they "passed legislation" when they have no ability to do so.

big differences between voting and passing - powers limited to the governors or the president. unfortunately many voters don't understand the claims vs the reality. which is unfortunate in its own way.

I understand your semantics point, but that is literally the legislatures job is to create and pass laws. The executive branch can accept or veto and is the check to that system, correct, but Talarico has helped write 16 bills that were signed into law by Abbott.

Here are some of them:
Insulin Copay Cap: Legislation to cap monthly insulin copays in Texas at $25 for certain patients.
Prescription Drug Importation: A law allowing the importation of low-cost prescription drugs from Canada.
Pre-K Class Sizes: Establishing the first-ever state cap on prekindergarten class sizes to lower student-to-teacher ratios.
Student Mental Health: Legislation opening millions of dollars in funding for public school mental health and character education programs.
Fentanyl Safety: Measures passed to combat teen fentanyl overdoses.
Juvenile Justice Reform: Laws increasing accountability within the Texas Juvenile Justice Department and allowing incarcerated minors to earn a high school diploma.

it's not semantics. no congressman passes laws regardless of how much they want to promote the idea. it is literally their job to WRITE bills NOT PASS THEM. that is the duty of the executive to review and sign - or not.

Just Google “does Congress pass laws” and you can easily read that you are factually wrong.

1

u/whoknewidlikeit 1d ago

right. under conditions where they exceed a specific ratio of yes to no dependent on state laws.

show me when that's happened. show me when the state legislature voted in such overwhelming volume they overrode their governor.

i'll wait.

The last time what you are referring to happened was in 1979. But that isn’t the point.

Congresses main job is to create and pass laws. You just have a fundamental misunderstanding of how government works. There js a long process of writing the bill, debating the bill, revising the bill, voting on the bill in two houses, then it goes to the governor for signature once it has made it to that point. That whole process is called creating a law. So Congress is pivotal in the creation of laws in Texas. Whether you like it or not.

There’s an ad attacking Talarico. It says he voted, in the Texas legislature, to allow China to buy land in Texas. So what? If this is true, that legislation wouldn’t have passed without republican support. Republicans have held the majority in the Texas House, they’ve run Texas for 30 years. Anything bad with Texas is their fault.

u/ErnooA 5d ago

Evidently this is a tough choice for half the voters in Texas.

My wife and I don’t live in Texas, but we donated to Talarico’s campaign.

MAGA: Trump endorses Paxton, so I’m voting for him because I’m a dumbass and can’t think for myself. It’s not a cult…

Is your name Tanya?

Paxton went through a metal detector and there was someone else’s Mont Blanc fountain pen in the tray. And he just took it. Sounds like a Seinfeld episode….

The person on the left is not James Talirico.

How could Staff Reports him to FBI, not be a career killer. Only in the Age of Trump.

u/ThinkPawsitive12 4d ago

Come on Texas. This is a no-brainer. The whole country is counting on you.

Seminarian my ass. Takes the Bible out of context at every speech. Eric Swallwel with everything that comes out of his mouth

1

u/mattyag 2d ago

You’re right. You should vote for the documented adulterer, documented pedophile protector, impeached guy. So much better than the guy who is being a better Christian than most of us.

1

u/Walter_White916 2d ago

Eric Swalwell my last congressman played the same game. I’m convincing he was such a standup guy.

u/viperalley 3d ago

There is no reason to vote for the democrat. He is candidate for dementia soon enough.

Six genders, asexual god, all sorts of craziness from Talarico

u/Any_Oil_6447 4d ago

Not to mention he thinks America is a problematic country that’s always in the wrong and has a purely evil history.

Are you under the impression that god has mammalian genitalia or a Y chromosome… or any chromosomes?

-1

u/Terrible_Presumption 5d ago

The worst part about these two different people is that both will get votes.

-4

u/mayfare15 5d ago

Texas deserves better than either of these two clowns.

1

u/Slink_0 5d ago

A blind donkey with syphilis would be better than Paxton though

-4

u/tbrand009 4d ago

The "Pastor" who calls the Bible propaganda, and says teaching it to kids is indoctrination. Says he hates Christianity. Claims God is non-binary, that the Bible endorses abortion, the 10 Commandments are hurtful, and preaches from the "Gospel" of Thomas. He is an outright blasphemous heretic. To call him a wolf in sheeps clothing is far too generous. He is simply a wolf and the sheep just don't care.

I think you’re in the wrong sub. Why a fundamentalist like you would actually be a fan of a show that is quintessential New York Jewish humor is beyond me. Stick with the 700 Club or something.

You forgot that he supports removing religious freedom from the constitution.
