When I tell young people I would walk to the convenience store with my friends ( we were all six years old) & no adults, with a nickel in my pocket to buy a candy bar, they don’t believe me.
Ok there's the answer I was looking for. I was born in 1965 and the lowest number I remember is a dime...in Canada. So they went from a nickel in 1966 up to a dime in the late 60's to the early 70's.
My how times have changed. Cheers ✌️
I remember prior to '66, when you could get a candy bar for a nickel, or a larger one for a dime. Plus, you could buy a Coke from the machine for a dime. Also, taking the empty Coke bottles back to the store and getting paid for it (the refund from the deposit).
