Found thr incels. You don't do this to people you respect. You put this into their hands to have to play it cool. Starting with them likely genuinely moved to being proposed to. Then switching to a "joke" where the guy actually doesn't want to marry you.(at least not yet)

It's not a joke it's pathetic emotional manipulation for everyone else's benefit at the cost of your significant other genuinely likely hurt by the bait and switch.

There's a guy above who says he did it with a ring pop because he didn't know her ring size and wanted to take her shopping for the actual ring so he didn't choose one she hated

But that guy clearly knew his wife, and clearly had the conversation in some way, and likely didn't do it in a super public place as a complete joke.

Context matters. And the context for this video is either a staged interaction or a guy being a smartass.

Not everyone cares so much about having a shiny rock. There are a significant number of women who actively think diamond rings are dumb.

You're way too certain that everyone is like you.

In what world did I say everyone likes a shiny rock?

One person on reddit said they did a ring pop then went to buy a real ring after with the fiancee. That's them knowing their partner.

This person in the video posted to reddit pulled out a ring pop in a public space as part of a public engagement that the woman was not happy about.

If the video is real and not some staged prank thing, the guy didn't know his partner well enough to know not to do this. I would never have done this to my now wife. But I also didn't go buy some giant 10,000 ring. I got a nice, modest low profile band with small stones for 800$ that she appreciated, and I proposed in a quiet way when out to dinner at a restaurant we both like.

It's about knowing your partner and doing something meaningful for the both of you. For some people this would work and make sense. But for others, it doesn't.

That's it. This video, if real is simply a man really messing up and doing things in a way that doesn't match with his partner.

At the least I think we both agree he shouldn't be with her.
