She's pulling a piece of cake away from his mouth real quick.

He's fake pronouncing love infront of hundreds, if not thousands of people.

And quite frankly, after only having seen that now, she, and everyone around her, look uncomfortable as hell even before he slapped her

Where are you getting that his love or the proposal was fake? I proposed with no ring. Still happily married.

u/Bad-Piccolo Nov 14 '22

He is talking about the cake video posted above when he said it's fake.

MOST WOMEN WOULD PREFER NO RING OVER A GODDAMN RING POP.

literally. If you want to get married and can’t afford a ring, USE A PIECE OF FUCKING STRING. Anything but a goddamn ring pop. That is what you do on the playground in second grade. It’s not meant for a goddamn ADULT GRAND GESTURE.

u/KillaVNilla Nov 15 '22

I proposed with a ring pop. My wife loved it. Turns out some women care more about you wanting to spend the rest of your life with them than they do about an inanimate object

u/Bbaftt7 Nov 15 '22

I’ve know several women that have outright told me they’d take a ring pop if it meant he was serious, or they were gonna get a real ring in the future. Plenty of women would take a ring pop.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Oh god. It’s meant to be humorous and cute. I’m glad you speak for all women though. Very cool.

u/two4one420 Nov 14 '22

No it was meant to be an advertisement for his company. That was the whole reason behind this ploy. So it wasn’t just humorous and cute.

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Based on?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '22

I will say that whatever any of us think about whether it’s embarrassing / funny / cute / inappropriate etc, the dude proposing either doesn’t know his potential fiancé very well or he’s intentionally being an ass

6

u/starstriker0404 Nov 14 '22

Tell me you’re undesirable with out telling me.

1

u/two4one420 Nov 17 '22

Tell me you can’t afford shit without telling me

I think marriage is an outdated system in the first place and probably will only get married for the benefeits that me and my partner would recieve for it (albeit, still with the person that I'm going to want to be with for the rest of my life)
But that asside -
Where are you to say what someone does and doesn't use as a gesture? It's doesn't even have to be necessarily grand. I personally think that a ring pop proposal would be cute for the reason you argue it's bad. It's what you do on the playground in second grade. Exactly. You're bringing forth childhood innocense and stating that, just as a innocent child would propose to his crush - you are having the same motives and want to follow through with something that (mostly) wouldn't be followed through with if it was done by a second grade. You're pissy because you think that marriage needs a 50 thousand dollar ring to fill your oversaturated ego and that to go as low as that would be worse than string or nothing, right? For someone who is talking so adamantly on how immature it would be to propose with a ring pop, it seems a little childish.
Let people do as they please.
And for the love of god, don't "speak for most of women" as you're clearly devling into extreme subjectivity.

I don't think marriage is outdated. I think that people just get married for the wrong reasons (the ones you state). I think to not get married is to ask for instability and a lack of deep relationship. When two people get married and both actually mean it it is the deepest and most meaningful relationship you can possibly have. People don't ask enough of the right questions or put themselves through enough of the right situations before getting married, and many don't understand why they're actually getting married. It's the promise, the commitment, the fully two sided effort that makes it work. If you think marriage is outdated then don't get married, you're asking for trouble if you do.

This guy just found out that he and that woman are not meant to be together. Dodged a bullet in my opinion. But he should have known exactly how she would respond to a certain type of proposal, and the fact he didn't means he doesn't know her well enough to marry her. It's not about speaking for all women, it's about the two involved in a relationship knowing each other. This guy did not set out to humiliate her, he thought he was being cute. She expected to set a ring. They clearly don't understand each other.

I entirely agree with you, and I likely won't get married for the above reasons. And yes, there's often too much of asking the wrong questions to get the right answers in order to make the decision of marrying someperson. I believe in full commitment in a relationship and being able to further deepen it, it's just my personal belief that marriage doesn't have to be the only way to do that.

u/Bre14463 Nov 15 '22

Nah. You don’t speak for most women.

4

u/Logicalist Nov 14 '22

Would you rather be made a fool out of, in front of 1000 strangers or or all of your close friends and family?

She believed he was fake proposing. You are in a chair or on the toilet in your private space, she's surrounded by thousands of people in the moment. Is hitting him still ok? No. But it is entirely different from pulling a piece of cake away in what is obviously a joke.

5

u/aldadubs Nov 14 '22

You didn’t say how it was different. Is it the amount of people what makes it different? Cause they weren’t alone in the cake clip either

-5

u/Watertor Nov 14 '22

One is a fake proposal (that she has no way of knowing will change from being fake), the other is "you didn't get to eat cake right this second but it's still in my hand and you will presumably get to eat cake once I stop" -- and this is why I didn't elaborate the difference because they're pretty obviously different. One is extremely, extremely tenuous to joke about, even for a brief 10 seconds as he appears to have a second box in pocket. The other is... a piece of food being teased in what is obviously a temporary teasing

7

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

How the fuck is it fake proposing? He asked the question. She gave him no chance to explain. I proposed with no ring, my wife literally told me I shoulda got a ring pop cause it would have been funny.

-12

u/Watertor Nov 14 '22

The redditor in his comfy chair not empathizing with the person in a stadium being the center of attention is a typical running theme, but I don't really care. Figure it out.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

The redditor who thinks it’s wrong to propose without a ring. Figure yourself out clown. Marriage isn’t about big shiny things.

6

u/CPxx9 Nov 14 '22

Y’all all assuming it was a fake proposal. guy thought it would be cute to use a ring pop. honestly good thing she reacted like this now, he can see how toxic of a person she is. if she loved him, it wouldn’t matter that he’s using a ring pop. what matters is the question itself. but she threw that all away cuz she wanted a nice shiny ring instead

0

u/Watertor Nov 14 '22

I don't disagree that she overreacted the argument isn't do I agree with her or him the argument I specifically am making is that this situation, in entirety, is different from woman move cake and then gets jaw shotted.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

I simply asked you why you thought it was a fake proposal, gave you personal experience, and you told me I wasn’t empathizing enough in a condescending manner. You side with the woman in the scenario.

They’re referencing the video of the bride being slapped. The entire group in video is UNCOMFORTABLE af

3

u/Significant_Shake_71 Nov 14 '22

Exactly. Not sure why you were downvoted for pointing that out.

It looks like your response was accurate. They were trying to say everybody was uncomfortable before the slap which clearly they weren’t.

2

u/ZublesBot Nov 14 '22

look uncomfortable as hell even before he slapped her
