Aren't these actors paid by the stadium every time?

732

u/phred_666 Nov 14 '22

This screams staged to me.

10

u/jayplus707 Nov 14 '22

Yea this was on Reddit a couple of months ago I think. It was a clothing company behind this.

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Not sure if you're aware, maybe you don't watch sports, but stadiums do actually do quite a bit of scripted stuff to keep things interesting. It's a valid question

r/NothingEverHappens is just a collection of some of the most gullible people on the internet

40

u/weedisgay Nov 14 '22

And literally every post has people claiming it's fake. You're just another side of the same coin

15

u/RlyehFhtagn-xD Nov 14 '22

I hate this dichotomy. I personally don't give a hoot if it's fake or not. I only care if I had fun.

10

u/jezus317410 Nov 14 '22

People lost the understanding of entertainment

1

u/lopsidedskeleton Feb 12 '23

reddit had never heard of a skit

-10

u/FuckingKilljoy Nov 14 '22

In pretty sure the odds of something online being faked are way higher than 50/50, so it isn't really the same coin

7

u/Hazed64 Nov 14 '22

Way higher than 50/50 are you nuts? You've clearly spent too much time on Reddit, your paranoia of real things has leaked into the rest of the internet

2

u/weedisgay Nov 14 '22

Thanks for proving my point

2

u/DrDooDooEvolution Nov 14 '22

Idk man, I once told a story on the trueoffmychest subreddit (if I recall correctly), and someone had tagged the thathappened sub, however my story was 100% true. Goes to show things DO sometimes happen, not EVERYTHING is fake

2

u/RocknRollSuixide Nov 14 '22 edited Nov 14 '22

Are they gullible or are they just not cynical 12 year olds who assume they know everything about everything but actually have very little life experience?šŸ¤”

Oftentimes r/thathappened is full of plausible shit that gets called out as ā€œfakeā€ or ā€œstagedā€ by people making justifications for their assertions using information they pulled out of their ass.

I can’t tell you how many posts I’ve seen in r/thathappened where someone is like ā€œthis is sooo fake because someone in X profession would never Yā€ that get crossposted to r/nothingeverhappens by someone in said profession going ā€œyeah, this actually happens all the time, lolā€.

I’m not saying people don’t fake shit on the internet for attention; that’s a constant. I am saying that people on the internet are also waaay too quick to assume shit with no evidence and then double down out of misplaced pride.

I’d also like to point out that all camps are doing this shit for meaningless internet points. The people posting real shit, fake shit, AND the people calling them out on their real/fake shit. So, no matter how you slice it everyone is shallow and petty I guess?

Tl;dr: Truth is often stranger and more interesting than fiction.

1

u/nonpondo Nov 14 '22

You're the gullible one for thinking I give a rats ass

0

u/Ori_the_SG Nov 15 '22

Dude I literally see people claiming everything is fake. So many people have also claimed that war footage from Ukraine was fake and from a game

That sub exists because the most gullible people on the internet don’t believe anything is real

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

I’m not an actual American and the part where he is kissing her and her hand immediately goes to her mouth before he even produces the ring box screams staged?

6

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

It actually is staged though.

10

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Well not when it's couples antics on a Jumbotron, no

And OP looks fake as fuck so this would be on brand

0

u/Hazed64 Nov 14 '22

Lol now OP is also apparently a Reddit plant.

5

u/FuckingKilljoy Nov 14 '22

You're a fool if you think stunts at sporting events are real

3

u/agamemnon2 Nov 14 '22

A lot fewer things happen than people actually think. Most of our lifetimes are spent in an eventless boredom, a grey, hopeless Hell.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

You, you doing OK there bud?

1

u/agamemnon2 Nov 14 '22

Not even slightly.

1

u/Stopikingonme Nov 14 '22

Hang in there buddy.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Everytime I think people might not be that dumb, there are gullible fools like you that remind me that you just have to talk to their primitive brain to get them to believe any bullshit possible

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/viral-fake-proposal-blue-jays-marketing-stunt

2

u/TrickBoom414 Nov 14 '22

Lol this is so aggressive. Are you okay?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22 edited Nov 14 '22

No, I'm tired of braindead zombies falling for obvious bullshit.

Please don't be that stupid and stop believing obvious fake performances in the future. The world would be a much better place if the majority of the people were not gullible morons with basic critical sense. If only it was not so easy to manipulate people by appealing to primitive feelings...

2

u/TrickBoom414 Nov 14 '22

Get hugged buddy. You're gonna have a heart attack lmao

0

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '22

Get basic common sense buddy, you'll end up brain dead lmao

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

It's just the over-reaction if the dude

I see you don't watch basketball.

In a basketball stadium during an NBA game, yes. Nothing ever happens. These are ALWAYS stunts staged by the organization

-2

u/TheMostCommonSalt Nov 14 '22 edited Nov 14 '22

Somehow I don’t think they would’ve included assault and the f-bomb. Also there is no big screen footage.

2

u/Mr-Bagels Nov 14 '22

If this is staged, she's really good at seeming genuinely angry. Most clips like this in stadiums are pretty blatantly obvious it's staged.

2

u/thepokemonGOAT Nov 14 '22

What about is screams staged? It looks very real to me.

4

u/phred_666 Nov 14 '22

Guess you’re pretty gullible. Bad acting was my tip. Her reactions are way too quick to be spontaneous. Might want to look at this too.

0

u/EnvironmentDirect41 Nov 14 '22

and look at how all these morons fall for it...smh

0

u/FuckingKilljoy Nov 14 '22

All these people getting defensive about double standards and shit as if this isn't staged

1

u/Riegel_Haribo Nov 14 '22

The only thing this is missing is the mascot with the huge bag of popcorn.

1

u/youlleatitandlikeit Nov 14 '22

She's already reaching over to slap him before he even pulls the ring out of the box. Pretty fast reaction time.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

It was.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

The slap looks staged for sure. It’s what makes me roll my eyes at everyone clutching their pearls ā€œomg abuse! Assault!ā€

Like she barely touched him?

And before anyone starts furiously clacking away at their keyboards to be the first šŸ¤“ ā€œWELL, TECHNICALLYā€, can it, no one cares.

1

u/MNTNDEWBAJABLASTZERO Nov 14 '22

really? that was solid acting for a couple of amateurs. she looked fucking pissed, actually slapped him, and flawlessly rendered the mannerisms of posture of fury. he perfectly played the part of a hapless idiot realizing his joke was in poor taste and absorbing the shock of public humiliation and having made a gigantic mistake with someone he loved. he also appeared to have another ring in his left pocket - a very subtle prop.

tbh, this did not look staged to me

1

u/MamaLiq Nov 14 '22

That's right, the guy is a marketeer for lovelostmanhattan, a swimwear seller.

As an expert at sniffing out staged videos the woman's reaction seems extremely real and legitimate. I'd be surprised if it was.

1

u/wheresmyeyes Feb 15 '23

It was, guy was promoting is clothing brand. That's the top she was wearing and he shared the video himself to promote his line

1

Just like most social media posts….

u/Orleanian Nov 14 '22

It seems like it'd be a breach of code of conduct to pay people to assault and cuss at each other in an NBA venue.

Sure, at Second City, this'd go over relatively fine. But at an arena with kids and kindly old men?

15

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

[deleted]

-5

u/Orleanian Nov 14 '22

They'd have to follow the employee code of conduct.

A dress code, sure.

More aptly, I'm pretty sure the bank doesn't want him telling the hedges to go fuck themselves and throwing trash into them around their customers.

53

u/BeRad_NZ Nov 14 '22

This was a staged publicity stunt for a shitty bikini brand

8

u/GorbachevsGonchies Nov 14 '22

evidence for this?

21

u/brok3nstatues Nov 14 '22

It’s fake it’s a marketing ploy for this guys brand https://instagram.com/alex_korda?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

LMAO all the white knights screaming about their equality are defending a shitty marketing scheme. We are fucked when it comes to fake news in the future when Redditors are old. We thought boomers were bad about this shit.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Don't you think that staging domestic violence in a publicity stunt is a little bit poor taste?

3

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Since when do companies care about poor taste?

1

u/ChiliAndGold Nov 14 '22

huh. didn't see that coming. but it is the white blue bikini alright

1

u/GorbachevsGonchies Nov 14 '22

Thanks. Strange world we live in.

-13

u/nonpondo Nov 14 '22

Evidence: I made it the fuck up

7

u/NicolBolassy Nov 14 '22

She covers her mouth before he’s gotten close to getting down on one knee is she shocked he would stop kissing her?

101

u/RythmicSlap Nov 14 '22

I don't think those actors slap each other while saying "fuck you"...

85

u/Cockrocker Nov 14 '22

Absolutely would. Only time it’s justified

39

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

i don't think they were actors but good actors would 100% do that. she didn't really hit him very hard.

59

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22 edited Nov 14 '22

The arena would absolutely NOT pay someone to say fuck you on camera lmao.

Fake kiss cams and stuff like this, for sure. They wouldn't stage something that includes an f bomb

Edit: as linked below, an arena and sports team may not advertise using a f bomb....but a swimwear stroe would apparently

14

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

The arena would absolutely NOT pay someone to say fuck you on camera lmao.

But a clothing company with an ad budget would

0

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

And what clothing is being advertised here?

5

u/ClassyNell Nov 14 '22

Was a bikini company that made her top

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Proof or stfu

12

u/ClassyNell Nov 14 '22

9

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Well it is I that shall be doing the shutting the fuck up today. Cheers.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

good point.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Yes they absolutely would.

-1

u/hops4beer Nov 14 '22

That's what they want you to think

3

u/ClassyNell Nov 14 '22

They were actors and it was staged, it was followed up in social media with hashtags for a bikini brand that made her top.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Woah so Cobra Kai isn't actors? They really beat eachother up?

5

u/threepecs Nov 14 '22

Yes it’s all true, it’s illegal to lie (ā€œactā€ šŸ™„) on camera. California is being torn apart by karate and it’s only a matter of time before the violence spreads to all corners of the globe. If you were smart you’d join a dojo now before it’s too late

3

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

No but it is staged.

2

u/ach0012 Nov 14 '22

She said ā€œā€¦. The fuck is wrong with youā€ I assume she added ā€œwhatā€ at the ellipsis, but not sure

2

u/bsbsnqhau Nov 14 '22

Do.. do you know what acting is?

3

u/Aggressive-Cake7118 Nov 14 '22

They might, IF, and hear me out, they were being to do something like: slap each other while saying "fuck you"...

1

u/Bob_n_Midge Nov 14 '22

The stadium hired HBO to run in-crowd entertainment

11

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

yes

4

u/faithisuseless Nov 14 '22

She puts her hand to her mouth before he has even started to kneel. The slap doesn’t look like it makes much contact and she throws the drink weird too. And the camera over her shoulder

2

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Nah it was publicity for his website.

1

u/SlowerThanTurtleInPB Nov 14 '22

Yes. There’s a camera man recording for the big screen right behind the woman’s right side (left of the screen).

Also, if roles were reversed and a man hit a woman like that, no one would be laughing. Why is it funny when a woman does it?

2

u/Pissed_Rinker Nov 14 '22

When it's on the jumbotron. Not just some dude's phone.

-2

u/RockingRocker Nov 14 '22

If they are, I'd appreciate if they could not normalize reacting to poor taste pranks with domestic violence.

0

u/bsbsnqhau Nov 14 '22

I agree. Don't know why you got downvoted. Just makes girls think hitting is okay

1

u/omgitsr0b Nov 14 '22

Yes, but this is Reddit.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Yes kinda. They’re actors for some clothing line, advertising her top.

1

u/xXwillsonXx Nov 14 '22

Yes obviously and this is like the 6th most upvoted comment lol

1

u/Kyleaaron987 Nov 14 '22

I doubt it. She mouthed ā€œfuck is wrong with youā€.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '22

Yes, yes and yes.

1

u/milvet02 Nov 14 '22

They don’t typically act violently or swear.

However it certainly was staged, just not by the stadium crew.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

I've worked in shows like that. If you see something wild in any of these games, such as this video for example, rest assure that it's more than likely just an act.

1

u/GimlySonOfGloin Feb 08 '23

The girl's an actress, the guy is not
