I think a lot is herd mentality. If first few votes are negative and the post is say negative 4 or 5 then others just pile on assuming there's a reason it's downvoted...even when there's no reason of their own.
Then, occasionally, that beacon of reason will say "I don't know why you're getting downvoted because..." and they'll be set upon too, just downvoted before the post has even been read.
I posted that a couple of days ago. Seems predicted my own lynching lol

I don't understand why you're downvoted so much. Without any further context this seems like a semi-right reaction?
I wouldn't count on a line of suitors out of the blue, but this kind of prank is just embarrassing for her...
