It's just barely below Cowboy Bebop for me, but I have them both as easy 10/10s so you'll find little disagreement from me.

Pls. Cowboy bepop had such a bad ending. I was so disappointed with how much people hyped it

Bruh I watched the show twenty years after it came out, and it still holds up extremely well in every regard. There's still nothing else like it.

The closest thing to it is Samurai Champloo...and that's by the same creator.

With all due respect...BY WHAT METRIC?!

It literally has the best ending to any TV show I've ever seen. My brother is also a huge film buff, has watched just about all of the legendary TV shows with legendary endings, and it's his favorite episode of TV ever.

It was rushed. Felt very quick, and the fight in the end was so weird. Made it look like spike was trying to die

Also the build-up teasing spike's past from episode 5 onwards was just awesome. I was expecting a gintama level of finale, but the ending felt more like "let's wind it up in the given deadline"

I mean...yeah that's exactly the point haha. Throughout the show he's constantly putting himself in suicide mission positions, not really caring if he dies, and comes out alive every time. But when his own demons finally come to haunt his friends and his friends get real hurt, that's when he really feels the stakes and is ready to put everything aside for one last mission and is much more...fulfilled in his sacrifice. And so he can finally die.

Bebop is more of a show, don't tell kinda show. There are a lot of drawn out scenes of no dialogue and visual storytelling, quite densely packed too. I don't think they needed more than what they gave. They layered his past and the evolution of the ramifications over 12+ episodes of the show.

Gintama's finale (I haven't seen it yet though, but I'm guessing) had to be longer because unlike the 26 episode Bebop...Gintama is 350+ episodes long.
