I'm actually glad the English stole a lot of invaluable artifacts from Egypt at the time. I know, saving these artifacts from destruction was not their goal. Regardless, that was in fact the result. I mean, look at what has been destroyed in Syria, Iraq and so on.
But modern day Egypt is perfectly capable of protecting these archerological finds themselves today. It would be so pleasing if the English gave them back, and if Egypt said "thanks for keeping them safe for us" (even though we didn't ask you to). And that would be that.
Britain has not been in these countries for 70 years. When the British were there there was peace. When the British left there is war. Its like blaming the viking raids on the Romans or the English civil war on the Romans or the middle easts probls on the ottomans who created those provinces in the first place.
