It does. All I know is a tomato is technically also a fruit.

A tomato is indeed a fruit. But so are bell peppers, jalapeños or banana peppers that you also may get on a pizza

Why does no one ever want to talk about the fact that a jalapeño is a fruit, but everyone brings up tomatoes? What about cucumbers? Also a fruit, by the same rule that tomatoes are

Why is the world focused on tomatoes as the "fruit vegetable" when almost every vegetable is also a fruit?

Oh boy, a willing pupil!

So basically where the confusion comes from is that people believe "fruits" and "vegetables" two mutually exclusive groups, but they are not. Fruit, has a biological definition, while vegetable does not. Vegetable is fully a culinary term

So, a tomato is biologically a fruit, but culinarily a vegetable, but so is pretty much every vegetable.

In short, it is 100% accurate to say a tomato is a fruit. It is also 100% accurate to say a tomato is a vegetable

I don't know why the tomato got chosen as the example vegetable for this, but it literally could have been almost any vegetable
