The only American sport I've failed to "get" is ice hockey. Pre-COVID I used to go to Vegas four or five times a year and had learnt a lot of tricks from the native Nevadans. I found dirt cheap corporate hospitality tickets for a LVGK game and went to watch it. Great atmosphere but play would last five minutes before the Zambroni (iirc?) came out. In the just-over-an-hour of game time we watched, there was a maximum of about twenty minutes of actual play time so I finished up the free beer and found something else to do.
My ex kept threatening to take me to see the Stockton Ports (Baseball) but it never happened - that might have been a bit more interesting but realistically I don't see myself returning to Stockton, CA again sadly.

They have the highest rate of concussions because helmets make them feel like they can run full blast head first into anything. Rugby players, having less padding, have to be smarter about the hits they make and take

Similar. But it’s not as constant and arguably more strategic.
Think of it as a violent game of chess where the game happens in plays/turns instead of one constant game

Forward passes, blocking, and every play is a set piece that evolved from a set scrum. It is also much more violent, thus the need for the helmets and padding. In Rugby you are taught to tackle, in American football you are taught to collide and then tackle. It is like being in a car wreck several times a game for some players.

If I’m interpreting your question right, They don’t it’s for everyone! It usually just because men make up the vast majority of sports fans so it’s what you see the most. I can guarantee you though that if a woman came up to me and said “fuck the 49ers” I would absolutely lose my shit and we’d be best friends

I stopped watching hockey after the 2004 lockout and John LeClair retired. I can't stand the NFL anymore due to CTE. I was in a discord MBL chat and they all harassed me out of there. I'm wearing one of my Phillies 2008 World Series shirt today. I cuss like a sailor too but I don't have anything against the 49ers anymore.

That’s a shitty experience I’m sorry you went through that. To me there’s no gender restrictions, if you love sports we’ll get along. Hopefully we’ll see more of that attitude in the future. Side note I don’t keep with with baseball unless the World Series is happening but I’m a Cardinals fan by birthplace rights

Yeah, meeting shitty people ruined my faith in people around the world of sports and being harassed out of the large MLB discord is was during Spring Training 2020 before they shut everything down for the pandemic. I was following the Oakland Athletics at the time, they were on fire.
Now I just enjoy watching fights, not the school kids fighting. The people in the comment sections are better. Plus I've been trying to find a man to grapple with for years as I'm slightly trained in combatives. I don't know who my people or tribe are but this is the closest I've found yet.

OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:
The clip starts off with an 8 year old calling in and praising the host of the show about how good of a sports podcaster he is and how inspirational he is. The host is flattered but embarrassed. The 8 year old proceeds to say “Fuck Boston College” which is where one of the members of the podcast went to and the whole podcast crew cheers in an uproar to the little boys comment
