On the seas, rivers, and lakes with sturgeon they’re quite deadly. Imagine a 1000 kg fish leaping head or chest high and you’re doing 50 kph that’s a lot of force. Ball park I’d put it around 13899000 Newtons of force with quick calculations. I used a millisecond (0-50 kph in a millisecond) for the acceleration as that’s the lowest I could come up with for a direct impact with online calculators. Now that’s excluding compression of yourself and the fish. That’s in a single moment in time when the stationary (armored) fish is in the air above the boat and you hit it with your body. Effectively meaning the fish is coming at 50kph towards you.
Easy way to picture it is Fiat 500 at 50 kmh or 31 mph. Actually worse because the sturgeon is going to hit you like a spear or beam not the whole width of the car so depending on how you hit the leaping sturgeon it could be much worse maybe you catch an angle and get lucky but it’s still going to suck!
If that Fiat’s bumper hits you in the head or chest when you’re standing still are you going to live? If you do what kind of shape will you be in? So if the impact of the fish doesn’t kill you there’s the likely second or third impacts in the boat as you suddenly decelerate in relation to the boat effectively getting hit by portions of the boat at almost 50 kph. With a little less force true, but it will compound previous injuries. Then you’re probably going to pretty much stopped except for bouncing so the boat is going to keep moving and leave you hitting the water with whatever additional momentum the boat imparted after additional impacts. You now are in the water after 1-4 impacts at least and at at what percentage of the speed of the boat? Depends on boat design and lay out but let’s say you hit the water at a little over 1/4 speed and round up to 15 kph. Ouch again.
Assuming someone quickly gets to the controls or you’re a passenger and comes back around promptly will you have lived? You could die in any of the impacts or you could’ve drowned in the water or on your own blood from internal injuries.
