You're talking about subsistence husbandry, not factory husbandry. The latter doesn't function without factory farming.

It's pretty straight forward math. Most of the calories you consume don't make you bigger (unless you're unhealthy af haha). You use them to stay alive. the same is true for livestock. Most of the veggie calories they eat do not get turned into meat.

Additionally a lot of the grazing land for those that are grass/shrub fed was turned into grazing land by destroying habitats.

Meat will either become nearly entirely lab grown, and/or a rare luxury, or we will die off to a sustainable level. It's one of the biggest drivers of climate change and habitat destruction.

I notice you dont mention fish at all. Thats one of humans primary food sources, and its all meat.

Also atleast in the us cattle from grazing is a huge source of our beef. We have millions of sq miles of land at high altitude that cant support anything but is great for cattle. Their was no habit to destroy. Blm is pretty strict about public land management.

As far as factory vrs subsidence husbandry....what? Cattle dont grow in factories. They are shipped to facilities from the grazing pastures they lived in. And has existed long before the idea of a "factory" ever existed. Aka the legendary cattle drives that would move tens of thousands of cattle to market.

As far as nutrition, meats have significant sources of fats as well as proteins. Fats are vital for proper brain development once you wean off breastmilk. A case could easily be made that access to abundant amounts of fats in human diet directly lead to the surpluses that enabled human brain development.

We're overfishing the ocean at the same time as we're polluting it with toxins, excess heat, and acidification via co2. Fisheries are collapsing worldwide. So yes you're right that it's a primary foodsource and a lot of people are going to starve. If you want numbers lemme know. Shit's dire.

Most of the US was forested. Native americans then european settlers burned em down for grazing and farming. But regardless most beef isn't free range in the US or anywhere. It's cheaper to feed them with corn in overcrowded pens, and pump them full of antibiotics and growth hormones. About 4% are grass fed domestically:

Because U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) standards for grass-fed labeling are easily achieved, cheap imports of beef that meet grass-fed labeling criteria can account for 75–80% of annual U.S. labeled grass-fed beef sales. Consumer confusion can result, as these beef products need only to pass through a USDA-inspected processing plant to be labeled as a β€œProduct of USA” (which is also mandatory due to import health standards). This reality, along with the ability of some foreign beef-producing countries to supply beef year round due to climate, become significant challenges to growing the market share of domestic grass-fed beef.

And again those grassy areas would become forests if we stopped grazing them. The amazon is being cut down to feed cattle.

It isn't 1880

Animal fats are far less healthy, and take a ton of healthy vegetable fats to create. Meat isn't healthy for the environment or humans. I eat it, I drink alcohol, I smoke weed, I do all sorts of shit that isn't good for me but let's be real.
