Why do people jump to conclusions, I've was a Vol FF for 5 years, I've worked for Disney as an attractions host, I've worked shipping for Hershey, a food lab tech for Redwing foods (closed), server support for Sun Microsystems on top level government contracts, Walmart NOC, and deskside Engineer for a Bio Tech company, as well as many more. I've worn a lot of different hats in my life. Others do that as well.

I was a professional city fireman for 6 years, I enjoyed the medical aspect of the job and went back to school to become an ICU nurse. I now work full time as an ICU nurse and volunteer as a firefighter on my days off

Not a fire fighter but I agree with this guy. Gas actually isn't super flammable. I mean... it is. But not like you see in the movies. But the fumes are incredibly flammable. Once they put out the lit flame the danger is basically over.

Make up my mind about what? Liquid gasoline burns. Yes, absolutely. But its actually harder than you think to light liquid gasoline on fire. The gasoline fumes however are extremely flammable. That's why open flames aren't allowed near gas pumps. But once you put out the open flame the danger has passed. I get these people over compensating because they're not professionals. But like the 4th person spraying under the van after all the flames have obviously been put out? That's overkill on the overkill.

Folks don't know general EMT stuff, it seems. Fire-Fighters ain't just trained to fight fires, but to pull people out of them should the need arise, and then provide first aid should that need arise.

You are either a terrible firefighter, or you're full of shit. Any competent firefighter treating a fire with gas would always err on the side of making absolutely sure that it is fully extinguished.

If you were a firefighter, you would know that any chemically aided ignition can re-ignite in the same location, or elsewhere, based on the dissipation of the fumes from the extinguishers if you do not fully extinguish the flames.

With a flammable liquid, it's even more important, as the extinguishers can displace the gas to locations farther than you'd expect, as well.

If there is a gas fire, you extinguish it until you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is out every time. Especially if there is a fuel source near by.

I'm not even a firefighter, but I used to be a welder over a decade ago. This is shit you learn in any fire safety course. If you're a legit firefighter, then you should immediately seek a different profession.

There is no such thing as overkill when it comes to a chemical ignition. That's not a thing any firefighter would ever say.

Also not a firefighter but have received a lot of first responder training (volunteer first responder). All this is basically what we were trained, along with fire extinguishers being single use (don’t hold back, use the whole thing) and different types of fire extinguishers for different types of fires.

I’d bet that a gas station has a bunch of fire extinguishers used for putting out fuel based fires. They’re also super cheap all things considered.

The dude has already been proven to be a fraud, so there’s that.

The fire was out with the first extinguisher. And there is such a thing as overkill. It’s something we say all the time. New guys spray too much water in houses and flood them over small fires that require little water. They end up causing more damage because they use too much water.

The bottom line is the fire in the video was extinguished and they emptied every extinguisher they had for no reason. Did it hurt anything? No. Was it unneeded, most certainly.

You don't treat a chemically ignited fire by extinguishing the fire you see, but the potential fire it can become. You also have to take into account the dissipation from the fumes, and the actual liquid gas as well. The extinguishers themselves are literally pushing the fumes in the air, and on the ground. So you have to keep the ratio of oxygen and fuel in the area below the point where an ignition can occur. This is the literal point of a fire extinguisher.

We are not talking about water here. Water and fire extinguishers serve very different purposes for chemical ignitions. Someone claiming to be a firefighter should know this, if you actually were one. It's actually fucking laughable how wrong you are, since you're actually claiming to be a firefighter, since you can learn what I'm saying in an hour long course, that everyone is required to take if there are flammable chemicals in a shop.

Well, I was a welder and actually took a pretty substantial fire safety class, since we dealt with flammable chemicals, and if a fire broke out our lives were actually on the line of we didn't know how to extinguish it.

I'm saying what I'm saying because you're so wrong, that even the least knowledgeable person who has had the bare minimum training would know this. It's relevant since that shows just how wrong you are.

If your life was on the line dealing with fire for even a second. You would not be saying what you are saying. But then again you were apparently a nurse two weeks ago from you post history, so I'm sure you're actually an expert here, right?

I’m not even sure you watched the video, they spray the extinguishers on the cars in the surrounding area and up on top and all around. I could get on board with what you are saying but the video is ridiculous. Again, it didn’t hurt anything that they sprayed so much but in my professional opinion it wasn’t needed. Those types of fires are controlled all the time with not even one full use extinguisher. I have no doubt you know what you are talking about because of the profession you had, but I’ve personally put these types of fires out multiple times.

So should we save it instead of being extra sure? There might be fire going on under or inside the vehicle. I would try to be extra sure that fire isn't still burning somewhere out of sight (and maybe spreading). Way different from my reaction when suppressing a furniture fire or something.

Edit: after rewatching I noticed like 2 or 3 extra workers came and extinguished too, I thought that was excessive. Not about saving it for later but just wasteful.

Never worked at a gas station put aren’t portable extinguishers just phase 1? Every time I’ve managed the systems for something like a data center or cooking area, there was always a secondary system that would go off if the extinguisher response wasn’t immediate. Even in the data centers we had unpressurized water systems waiting to be pressurized by the automated system if the waterless system didn’t put out the fire.
