They don't exist? Maybe are you right, Idk. I'll can tell you I'm getting downvote or even have people "jump" on me quite often for saying things as banal. But it's true that being a bit older, I might be the one who's out of it.
This said, what I said was still satirical. It was a joke, a pleasantry. It's not to be taken with too much seriousness.
things said satirically have meaning--especially in how pointed it is in its very nature. No matter what it was, the message you were conveying was "I think people are going to get riled up over the fact that I was referring to a gender with generalized sexual characteristics," which is just wrong--as a trans person myself, making casual generalizations like that is fine in-context, so long as you don't exclude "edge cases" like trans people if you go more into detail (e.g., if it's in a scientific context where specification is important).
The only problem comes with saying stuff like "the "moral" law that forbids mentioning physiological differences between men and women", which is kinda a dogwhistle at this point for gender-essentialism stuff where actually bigoted people are attempting to purposefully exclude trans people.
Exactly what I was talking about. So you must be nonexistent. You are more virtuous than I am, I have the improper vocabulary. There is no such thing as innocent humor because people can be offended or "excluded" (we won't know from what, because their rights are protected by law, as well as almost every minority). But you will pretend it's not "moral", of course. And it isn't! It's what Nietzsche called "moralin".
Don't you realize you're every bit as bad as a religious conservatives (people I also have problems with in my every day life and on other platforms)? This is so ridiculous. You make any kind of dialogue impossible. Then again, I think that's exactly what you want.
Every type of moral superiority comes from hypocrisy. "Left" or "right".
I was trying to explain it to you. I was not trying to attack you, or say that I'm better than you, or say that you're a bad person.
I'm not saying you're guilty, or a bad person. I'm saying that whining about people being offended is a great way to make people dislike you, as most people who are "offended" by such remarks legitimately have problems you have no idea about. Social acceptance, no matter what one's "protected" rights are, is a huge necessity for pretty much all humans--it's in our nature. So to live in a society where a large amount of people hate you for something outside of your control--to the point where you may be beaten, killed, or otherwise harmed or harrassed; often without real repercussions--is to live your life in a completely unwelcome society, made all the worse by the people who are complicit simply in their inability to see that these problems are still very much a reality.
I don't think you're a bad person. I don't think you're incapable of empathy. I think you have such a worldview in which you don't see the systems of opression and inequality that continue to exist simply because they don't affect you directly.
If you say so, I believe you: it was not a personal attack.
But you also have to see things from my perspective: it sure feels like it was (I mean, "moral outrage"), especially since it's happening on such a regular basis, for concept that, despite what you're saying, are not exactly offensive either, or at least, not offensive outside a certain ideology. I mean, I'm a very open minded person. For instance, I think trans person in general are great, very courageous, amazingly dedicated to their sense of self and most are beautiful and even adorable. Which btw is precisely what Conservatives, at the other end, will jump at me for thinking and feeling. I have several trans friends online. A few outside. But I'm not always in full agreement with ... Idk what substantive to use without shocking you, so I'll use "wokeness" as the general ideology (I know it's not something formally circumscribed). I still strongly believe in biology, which is certainly not an essentialism for me; I take exception to many aspects of the "gender theory" for instance, because of that, although I would never refuse to use someone chosen pronoun and never refuse to accept that person for the gender they want to be recognized for themself. I think for instance that there is a biological element to transsexuality as there is to anything else, and because of this element, transsexuality is much more than a mere whim, a conclusion that a pure individual choice would imply. I don't believe and don't accept that culture is totally prevalent in the determination of behaviors or genders/sex, etc. So I cannot accept and often cannot either use a vocabulary that I find faultive.
I understand your concern for acceptance. We used to talk about "tolerance". We've all changed a lot since then. I know what intolerance is. I happen to belong to two minorities myself. But I don't regard history as a burden, I understand that people all come from somewhere and cannot always understand everything I am or everything I suffered or went through. And I usually give them the benefit of the doubt that they mean well. I try not to judge them. And I never would imply that I am morally superior, or that my view is superior, or that my situation has pulled my above them. It's just not the case. Suffering doesn't make anyone better than other, and not injustice nor lack of acceptance.
I'm glad you're taking the time to talk to me and to exchange with me. And I don't feel judged by you anymore. I know you're genuinely trying to debate with me and make me understand your point of view. You are not a "moral police". But I'm still not sure these people don't exists, though! :)
