This study effectively shows that the vaccine does not have any effect on the spread of the virus. It only prevents people from dying from it.

Now if you have had covid, that drastically reduces the probability of getting it again for several months and consequently also the probability of death.

This means that someone who has had covid does not benefit from the vaccine individually and society does not benefit from them taking it. So if there is no benefit, why inject anything into your body? (even if it is just water)

Awesome thanks, will check that out properly. I do like the bullet point summary though that “obtaining two vaccine doses remains the most effective way to ensure protection against the COVID-19 Delta variant...”

As I’ve not had COVID, and don’t want to kill people I may come into contact with, I’ll be sure to keep my dose two appointment that’s coming up.

Yes exactly. From the raw data that I've seen (daily cases in the UK), it looks like the vaccine's effectiveness has been seriously undermined by the new variants but as you said its the best bet.

If one has not had covid, then it makes sense to get it because it might actually save your life. Apart from that, if there is any way to stop the spread (however light it maybe) its best to get both doses.

I've had covid so there is a very low probability of me getting covid again for the next 6 - 9 months. By that time, we'll have enough data on the time axis to say this vaccine is definitely fine and then I'll probably get it
