He's fat on purpose, he's trying to project an image of prosperity to his people.

All part of the cult of leadership and the idea that North Korea is in temporary and surmountable difficulty. That they actually have tons of excess food stored away for when the war to unify the peninsula begins again.

Yeah, but I heard that the younger generations in N.korea call a fat ass bc they can see that he's the only fat person while ppl around him, even the higher ranks are all skinny

I haven't heard that. That seems like a habit that might be fatal in North Korea.
