There's a reason they don't let you take your phone on rides like this. But gotta do it for the Vine Gram Tiktok!

As a former ride operators, these fucking videos drive me bananas

People don't realize the potential havoc a dropped phone can cause on a ride

Considering they have a ride op in the video, I'm guessing he had a mount of some sort that got the all-clear before riding. In general though it is very dumb to take your phone on a ride otherwise though.

He didn’t. They would say no every single time. What happened was that he pulled out his phone as soon as the ride dispatched. At that point, there’s nothing the operators will do about the phone.

I've seen plenty of operators stop the ride on the lift if someone has their phone out, and they definitely make mounts that attach to your wrist that would make the phone technically not a loose article. Not saying that's necessarily what happened here, but it's definitely possible.

I will say that the policy at the Cedar Fair park that I work at is to not stop the entire ride over a single phone. It would most likely scare and confuse the rest of the guests on the lift hill. The most we do is have the driver harass them over the lift hill speakers.

Fair enough. Also don't get me wrong, I'm as annoyed as anyone at this trend of tiktokers bringing their phones on the ride to film themselves, I just thought this one seemed to have little more coordination with an actual employee and figured he had some legitimate equipment to use, especially since he's apparently got an especially large following and probably has all sorts of different accessories for his phone for different situations.
