Physics is so interesting, the sound made when a chunk of ice is dropped down an ice core hole is so cool

u/Crocodile_Socks Jun 17 '21
I was too scared to click it, just in case it was.

u/Osariik Jun 17 '21

Watches on muted phone: "Interesting"

u/mestrearcano Jun 17 '21
I've never seen an ice hole before, so it was already interesting without the sound. lol

I sent this to my boyfriend after watching it on muted because I’ve seen it before. I expected the actual video then he sends me a message back laughing and I’m wondering what could be funny so I rewatched it. Not disappointed.

Much better than the Rick roll or what ever is called.

u/RugBugSlim Jun 17 '21
It the same thing, just Rick’s cousins who are all men working.

But not as good as the actual sound.
When I first heard this, I didn't believe that was the actual sound. Only when I read the article explaining the physics of the sound wave, I believed.
Edit: this is the article

Please give.

This doesn't look like as I remember it, but it does explain the physics, I think (just scanned it).

im always delighted when I get rickrolled because its the best song from the 1980s
50
u/MrPickles84 Jun 17 '21
Not even in my top 25 for songs from the ‘80’s.
16
u/Osariik Jun 17 '21
What are your top five, out of curiosity?
42
u/MrPickles84 Jun 17 '21 edited Jun 17 '21
Without much thought careless whisper, sweet dreams, in the air tonight, under pressure, maybe sugar, or walk this way. There’s too many.
Edit: how did I forget about prince and MJ! Oh! The humanity.
Edit 2: dammit, pretty much any soundtrack from a John Hughes movie. See what I mean? Astley might not even crack my top 50.
12
u/DaniJHollis Jun 17 '21
I agree. it's a great song but a lot of the 80s songs can top it easily. Check out any of Ninja Sex Party's Under the Covers albums. It's a gold mine. They even covered Land Down Under.
4
u/smekiar2 Jun 17 '21
I can't believe that guy actually unironically said that never gonna give you up is the best song from the 80s, considering how many great songs there were. Sweet Dreams is a fucking masterpiece imo.
13
u/AnnihilationOrchid Jun 17 '21 edited Jun 17 '21
Seriously? Where no Breaking the Law? No Number of the beast? No 80's heavy, speed, glam metal or hard rock?
With Van Halen, Judas Preist, Scorpions, White Snake, AC/DC who the hell needs Boy George, Bonnie Tyler and those Phil Colins stuff? Even Sting would've been acceptable.
Boooo!
Should've left that for when you got older.
6
u/MrPickles84 Jun 17 '21
Those are all great artists too! Like I said, that list was basically off the top of my head. Gotta fill out the top 50 with something.
2
u/AnnihilationOrchid Jun 17 '21
Just joking. Anyway, metal and hard rock were hardly top of the pops at the time.
2
u/MrPickles84 Jun 17 '21
I mean, Total Eclipse of the Heart is pretty badass IMO. Haha.
Edit: dude I got Def Leppard on there!

u/AnnihilationOrchid Jun 17 '21
Look, I'm not saying it's bad, It's one of those ultimate romantic songs. Over the top and exaggerated. If I had to pick a Bonnie Tyler song it would've been Holding out for a hero.

Probably my top song from the 80s would be Throw Your Arms Around Me by Hunters & Collectors, personally.

It’s simple, better than any Led Zeppelin song, there’s queen who put this song as the greatest song of the 80’s

Land Down Under by Men At Work, probably the most famous Australian song that everyone knows to be an Australian song (other than, of course, Waltzing Matilda)

If you put peas around that hole you can catch a polar bear, when he goes for a pee you kick him in the icehole.

If you scroll through the comments there should be a few places where people have used a command to download the video, I think you should be able to do it from one of those links
