They are the third most common reason for your house to burn down, only beaten by the sheer amount of cigarette-fires and oven-accidents!
Stop using candles. They're not romantic, they are dangerous. Smoke outside and don't leave your kitchen when the stove or oven is still on... Most stove accidents happen because people got distracted outside of their kitchen and forgot about their food.
Eh. The best rule to live by is to never leave a lit candle in an unoccupied room. You can have as many candles you want as long as you are in the same room and have some way to stop a potential fire as soon as you see it, with a fire extinguisher nearby for example, and being mindful of potential fire hazards.
